August 28, 2017: The Fight That Was

Anybody else watch that McGregor vs Mayweather fight?  The fight that was supposed to be awesome, was just another disappointment.  We kind of knew this already too.

There was a reason Mayweather was the big favorite; there is a reason why he is 50-0.  He knows how to box.  I can’t stand the dude, but he is a phenomenal boxer.  Who thought this guy who has never fought in a boxing match in his entire life was going to beat him?  Maybe we hoped, but we knew better.  We got excited because he came out and won the first couple rounds, mainly because Floyd didn’t throw any punches.  It was all part of his plan; the Clubber Lang theory.

He is a defensive fighter.  He is a smart fighter.  He let McGregor do his “damage” and knew he would be out of energy; then he would strike.  We’ve seen this before.

McGregor is a great story… being on welfare 6 years ago, and now cashing in millions.  I didn’t watch any of the pre-fight hype until just before the actual fight started.  It was funny seeing him get excited after one of his MMA wins, yelling “60 G’s” into the camera; that was a lot of money for him back then.  He is now enjoying his biggest payday of his lifetime, which is a little more than 60 G’s.

Mayweather added to his bank account with another multi million dollar payday.  I saw it put him in the category with MJ and Tiger Woods as far as total earnings; not too shabby.  You have to respect him right?  I guess, but I’d still like to see him get his ass kicked.

Now, the really awful part is that if you purchase through the online mode, you will get the medicine in many types in oral form, chewing type and also polo kind. http://amerikabulteni.com/2013/11/04/new-york-halki-yeni-belediye-baskani-icin-sandik-basina-gidiyor/ canada cialis 100mg with discount is proposed only for the one suffering with erectile dysfunction. These kind of health issues are majorly treated by good counselling, improving food cialis 40 mg habits and intakes, also very important regular exercise. That was the main draw for pulling for McGregor, and one of the reasons people probably bet on him.  Betting with the heart, not the head.  Or maybe people thought this was an MMA fight; I doubt Floyd would ever sign up for that.  We would then get to see that ass kicking.

Instead, we saw another textbook win for Floyd.  Colin looked absolutely gassed, and although I thought he could have stood there and withstood some more punishment, the outcome would not have changed.  Although I was hoping for one big haymaker to connect, it became apparent that the wanna be boxer was not going to get it done.  That’s OK though; neither one of these guys will ever have to “work” again.

A real fight will take place in a couple weeks when GGG will face off against Canelo.  I’ve never seen a GGG fight.  I’ve seen plenty of Canelo bouts.  At least both of these guys are boxers… yet the payday will be far less than what we witnessed this past weekend.

It was a record number of viewers, all tuning in because they either loved or hated Mayweather; then there were the MMA people hoping for a miracle, all saying the same thing when it was said and done.  Giving McGregor props for trying, and saying that Floyd would get smoked if it was an MMA fight.

It was just a spectacle for me; a big cash grab that a ton of us fed into.  Although we didn’t pay for it, I still felt dirty even watching this circus, seeing both guys hug and give respect after the fight.  All that hate was just an act.  They knew what would sell, and that’s just sad… but it is true.  Hate was the only thing that would fuel ratings and dollars; in that way, they both won.  Next please.

Mayweather vs McGregor was pretty much what everyone should have expected. I mean, Mayweather was 49-0 and now 50-0 for a reason. Yes, he is not the same fighter he was 5-10 years ago, but his record and what he has done in boxing should speak for themselves. The only shot Conor had was if he was going to try to knock Floyd out, and that just did not happen. All the talk about what he was going to do…blah, blah, blah. It was like conor was pawing at Floyd most of the night. I mean, he did not land one good, solid, hard shot. Floyd was never in trouble. Yes, he may have lost a couple rounds, but he had conor right where he wanted. Conor wore himself down. Floyd took advantage and knocked his ass out. A decent showing for someone who is not a boxes with 10 weeks of training, but at the end of the day, all it came down to was talk. Floyd backed up his talk and got the TKO, which the ref should not have stopped at the end of the day. It really doesn’t matter because conor was going down one way or the other, but let the guy hit the mat…seriously. All part of the plan. They made hundreds of millions and walked away besties. GGG vs canelo…yeah, let’s hope that lives up to expectations. I won’t hold my breath, though.
