December 8, 2017: Bengals

posted in: Bears | 1

Going to do something a little bit different this week for the Bears game, since I’m still in catch up mode…seemingly for the past few weeks.  Can’t preview a game that’s already taken place, but I can talk about some Bengal memories.  Do you have any?

The biggest memory is Walk Like an Egyptian.  My brother, sister, and I did a rendition of this song one New Year’s Eve many, many years ago when staying up late was enough to get us delirious; full circle coming.   We came out singing, playing instruments, it was classic.  I liked Hazy Shade of Winter too.  They were pretty hot from what I can remember.   Oh, you mean, the other Bengals???

Yeah, some things come to mind there.   One of my first ever Super Bowl memories was seemingly with the Bengals.  I would have been five and a half years old, but I swear I remember them playing the Niners, and losing.   I definitely remember that rematch 7 years later with the same result; that was their last Super Bowl appearance.  They also hold the distinction of longest playoff victory drought, coming in at 26 years.  Not sure I would have guessed that.

Many players come to mind.  Boomer Esiason is the first.  The left handed, blonde hair gun slinger was fun to watch.  Ickey Woods is next with the famous Ickey shuffle.  Nowadays it’s AJ Green taking a spot on my fantasy team, but how much can you really do with Dalton at QB.  Talked with a couple guys about him and they too would have been fine with swapping him and Cutler back in the day; I wouldn’t do that swap now.
It may be quite hard coping with the condition cialis price in india and getting back to those happy days. I used to like Sam Wyche.  I remember the highlights and his foul mouth.  But with zero Super Bowl titles, this franchise is more used to being called the Bungles.

As far as specific Bear memories with the Bengals, the first game that comes to mind was the Anthony Thomas game.  Didn’t he rumble for like 200 plus in Cincy?  Ok, it was 188 yards to be exact which was a Bears rookie record back in 2001.  The rookie of the year helped lead the Bears into the playoffs that year; I was at that game where the Eagles kicked our ass.   Still, I thought A-Train would be running for a while… And although he did run for 2 more years in Chicago, he had peaked; it was downhill from there.

More Bengals memories on the way this Sunday as the Bears head east.  Will this be the top rated Bengal memory?  Bear Down!

I remember the Walk Like an Egyptian parade on NYE years ago. I used to like the bengals because of their uniforms. I thought Boomer was pretty cool, too, since he was a lefty. I recall Ickey Woods, too, and his shuffle. The bengals definitely seem like the bungles due to their inability to make the playoffs and win a super bowl. As for the Bears heading to cincy to play these bungles, I would have predicted a W for MTru and the Bears! Would it have been a guess close to reality? Probably not but details to come…
