January 12, 2018: Pressing It

posted in: Bears | 1

Usually a phrase reserved for after a winning weekend, I’ll use it to follow up my push out of hibernation.  Come on…the Titans?  21-3 at the half, and the Chiefs blew it.  Fricking Nagy…haha, and now we have him.   That’s all good, as I’ve been saying all week, but he hurt my ATS picks last weekend.

The Falcons was an easy win, and the Bills a nice cover; then the Saints screwed me.  Actually, it was the long TD to McCafferey.  Newton shouldn’t have been in the damn game; the cover was in, but no… Disappointing push of a weekend normally, but I’m going to take it.  Not picking all season, coming back and pushing… Now we’re warmed up.

The second weekend brings out the big boys, and the only two teams left in the playoffs that I hate.  The pretenders are usually gone, except for the surprising Titans.  Then maybe the best matchup of the weekend will be held where the Super Bowl will be held.  Let’s go!

Falcons -3 at Eagles

No respect for the one seed….at home…coming off a bye week.  Only one reason for this line, and that’s the absence of MVP candidate Wentz.  Does he swing the point total that much?  How many points is he worth?  Eagles -6 if he’s playing?  Well, he’s not, but the snow and cold is rolling in mucking this game up.  I’m riding the tough luck Super Bowl losers from a year ago.  That still has to burn, especially now, only 2 wins from returning to try to complete their unfinished business.  This game will be ugly, and if I was laying something other than my pride on this game I might buy the hook; Falcons win a close one 16-10.

Titans +13.5 at Patriots

Jaguars +7 at Steelers

All road teams so far.  The Jags crushed the Steelers earlier in the year, but everybody knows it’s a different animal now.  The Jags defense is no joke though, and with the weather in this one, should be leaned on heavily.  Will Bortles be asked to not lose this game again, like last week vs the Bills.  Big Ben threw 5 picks the first time around?   That will equal a loss for sure, but that’s not likely.  Still Jags will give them everything they can handle in front of their home crowd and home refs; as long as the refs don’t screw the Jags over too bad…  Jaguars 31 Steelers 30

Vikings -5 Saints

Save the first home team for last…probably the least liked favorite?  Lots of folks loving the Saints….me too, but…the Vikes got that D.  When the Panthers shut down the running game, Brees was asked to beat them, and he did.  I think the same game plan works this week.  On the road, Saints and Brees are not as reliable.  Vikes 2 wins from playing a home Super Bowl?!?   Sound that damn horn and Skol, whatever that means.  Vikings 24 Saints 14

Good luck and enjoy.  F the Pats and F the Steelers.  Bear Down!

After the fact again, but I made my picks…

Atl-3–just didn’t think the eagles would have enough to beat Atlanta. If anything, I figured this game might push if it were close. Thought the falcons were hungry enough and played well in the wild card round that they would make it back to the nfc championship.
Ten+13.5–felt like all the noise around the pats would help the titans keep this game close. I should know better than to bet against Brady and the pats. Another SB coming?
Jac+7–after what the jags did to pitt earlier in the year, plus with how well their defense has played all year, I figured they would keep it close. No way did I expect the shooutout it turned out to be but a W nonetheless.
NO+5–wow, what a game this turned out to be! Not really rooting for the viqueens since they are the Bears central division foe, but what a story keenum has been! Thought the saints would pull this one out and head to philly…almost had it.
