January 17, 2018: Face Plant

posted in: Bulls | 1

Did you see Kris Dunn hit the court face first late in the game vs the Warriors?  Ouch.  Didn’t even get to close his mouth, but cracked a couple of his teeth, while taking a piece out of the UC court.  He had a mouth full of blood.  It was the ultimate face plant.

I don’t recall ever doing one of those.  Pretty sure I’ve had concussions playing football and skiing.  Broke a finger playing football.  Sprained my ankle badly a few times playing basketball.  Took a baseball off the chin.  Crashed through a window after being dunked over on a basket on the side of a barn.  Yeah, a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but no face plants.  Granted, I could never get up as high as Dunn did on that dunk…  the worst of my injuries were probably my sprained ankles… swelling up so quickly it was hard to get my gym shoe off.  No damage to the teeth though…

Speaking of face plants, it wasn’t exactly a face plant, but when Lauri blocked Curry’s shot and it ricocheted off his forehead… that was pretty cool.  Add that to the Lauri highlight tape that he continues to add to in only his rookie year.  The kid is more than impressive at this point; he will definitely be one of the pieces we’ll need to take it to the next level.  Do we have another piece on the roster?  At the very least, Lavine should be one; still need one more though?  Dunn?  He’s solid, but…

The Bulls gave it their all against the Warriors, but came up short.  Funny to see Jordan Bell, the 3.5 million dollar man, go down on the first play, a vicious RoLo dunk; he’s OK.  They started in a big hole in the first quarter, but by the time the quarter ended, were winning.  It was the third quarter that was the downfall.  They did make a run to cover the spread late in the game, but couldn’t catch them.  I don’t really watch that much NBA outside of the Bulls… in fact, hardly any… but of the teams that I’ve seen, I don’t really see anybody beating the Warriors.

What does this good showing vs the Warriors mean for the future of this team?  It should mean nothing.  Anybody not named Markkanen, Lavine, or Dunn, should be available; first round picks should be the goal.  Any questions?

It has been very fun watching these Bulls play; if kept together, I could see a very enjoyable season with a playoff appearance… maybe a playoff series win.  I can’t see much more than that.  So, stock up some more draft picks and add more young talent to the above core.  Miraculously add a big name free agent, and the Bulls may be right back in the legit mix next year.

Dunn should just replace those teeth with a diamond studded grill.  Are those permanent, or can you remove those?  Anyways, he should be fine, but what’s next for these Bulls?  GarPax?  Do something.  Go Bulls!

That was a hurtful face plant for sure for dunn. Now how long will he be done? He has been solid for the Bulls this year. Markk has been great. The block, the triples, and some sweet dunks add onto an impressive rookie season. Does he have a shot at rookie of the year? Could be. And yes, the Bulls played respectably vs the dubs. A 3rd quarter disappearing act puntuated the loss, but the Bulls never quit and made it close late, which is a good quality to have. As for the rest of the year and team, who really knows. Garpaxberg must have a master plan. How soon before it includes the playoffs and a legit title contention? I Dunno! GO BULLS!!!
