January 25, 2018: Food for Thought

Did you see the article the other day about the food at the new Falcons stadium in Atlanta?  That was one of the coolest things I’ve read in a while.

Actually, I’m not even sure if it was full article, but it talked about the food being the cheapest out of all the stadiums, AND they still made more money off the concessions than any other team.  How awesome is that?

It reminds me of back in the day, when I ran my own NFL franchise…on Madden.  The one thing I’d do every single year was to make sure my concession prices were the lowest they possibly could be.  Yes, doing something for the fans; what a novel concept.

Of course we all know it’s NOT about the fans, even though we are the ones supporting the team, spending money, etc.  Why throw us a bone?  But now, now that this idea, of offering low concession prices actually made sense financially, more teams may do it.   That’s the only reason other teams would consider it.

Nor it nichestlouis.com online cialis purchase is the lack of desire to have sex with your partner. I’m sure teams having difficulty drawing fans offer all kinds of promotions trying to get folks in the seats.  This year’s rebuild a Bulls are trying…and it’s working.   Every Wednesday home game, they offer reduced prices on concessions; guess who made it to the game?  Then there were a number of games where they offered family prices.  $25 for a seat, a hot dog, a pop, and a bag of chips; heck yes.  That was a popular option for Christmas this year.  Of course, if the Bulls were doing well, they wouldn’t offer any of that crap.

The White Sox are always offering some kind of promotion.  I’m all about the firework nights for my son.   With the Fundamentals in the left field corner, it’s a good fan experience…besides the parking.   The Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks don’t offer much that I am aware of; at least two of those teams have won…Bears?

Offering cheaper food prices is the least they could all do.  Gouge us all you want on the liquor, but can I buy a hot dog for my son for less than $5?  It’s expensive enough getting to a game.  If the food prices were cheaper, maybe folks wouldn’t try to eat before and/or after the game elsewhere.   I remember dollar hot dog days at Sox park; can you say 4 hot dogs!

It’s time for other sports teams to follow the Falcons lead and lower the prices on food.  Imagine you could do that AND make more money.  That’s food for thought.   Oh yeah, and it would be doing something for us, the fans.  How about doing something for us every once in a while?  If you can’t win, the least you can do is offer cheap food.

Cheap food is always good no matter where it is, but cheap food at a game, wow! It should be mandatory for teams to have certain promotions throughout the year. The fans already pay dearly for tickets, which are out of control most times. Concession food should be priced reasonably. Hard to imagine teams losing money with reasonable food prices. Throw us a bone and we fans will eat it up! Dollar dog days was a great night at GRate field, even after scarfing down a best sandwich ever breaded steak! How about dollar popcorn or dollar nachos? 2 for $5 even…come on now! Toss is some souvenir cups for free with your drink instead of paying extra. Get those marketing teams going and come up with some cool food ideas!
