January 9, 2016: Back for Primetime

posted in: Bears | 1

So I stumbled down the line in the regular season. I went 0-4, then 1-2, then finally had a winning week with the Atlanta over Carolina pick. I sat out the last couple weeks. You need a break once in a while, plus I was satisfied with a 500 regular season; sounds like another team I know.  I had to regroup my thoughts and prepare to make my glorious return. Well, here I am…back for primetime!

I did really well in last year’s playoffs, so I’m coming in with some confidence here. I’m forgetting about the tough regular season, and zoning in on these playoffs. Looking at this first four pack of games, I was pretty torn. I didn’t figure out my picks until a few minutes ago.  But now that I did, I’m feeling pretty good about them.

2015 playoffs:  8-3

2015 regular season:  17-17

2016 playoffs:  now!

Houston +3 Kansas City

Pittsburgh -3 at Cincinnati

Minnesota +5 Seattle

Green Bay +1 at Washington

Two road teams two home teams. Three dogs one favorite.  Two home doggies.  How did I come to these decisions?

Sometimes you think too hard about stuff. Sometimes you look at games and have no idea who to roll with against the spread. Then it comes to you. You thought about the games for a while, and it finally hits you. Here’s what hit me.

It’s a crapshoot. Papa Vegas owns our souls. You will never get this. Haha. Well, you know I’m taking my shot.

Going with the Steelers and the Packers because it’s simple; they get the calls come postseason.  I know they’re not at home, but they will get a critical call to go their way. I expect these both to be close games.  With Dalton not 100% if he plays at all, Pittsburgh should be able to score enough points to win. And it’s the Bengals for God’s sake. The winner of the NFC Least was going to be a first round exit regardless of who won it or who they matched up with. So, reluctantly, and I hope I’m wrong, I’m picking Green Bay. It’s more about Aaron Rodgers than anything. Got to figure he’ll come out slinging it.

As far as the other two, Seattle and Kansas City are two of the hottest teams in the league, and if there were any sure things, it surely is one of these two.  So if the public is undecided about the other two, they are surely on the Chiefs and Seahawks, and that’s the kiss of death…at least ATS and usually straight up.  So I’m going oppo, deep right center on this one, and taking the Texans and Vikes.  Texans are looked at as the worst team in the playoffs, while the Vikes got plastered by Seattle already this year.  Even more reason for people to jump on their side…and that’s why I’m jumping on the other side.  Because if Papa Vegas is going to be had, it surely is not in the postseason.

Take it or leave it.  I’m locking and loading.  I’ll gladly go 3-1 with the Packers losing.  Good luck with your picks and enjoy some playoff football…can’t wait for the Bears to be back in the game…one day, one day.
