July 30, 2014: The Return of Rose

posted in: Bulls | 1

It’s good to see Derrick back on the court.  It’s not in a Bulls uniform, but the fact that he is on the court and playing basketball again, is a postive one for us Bulls fans.  In this afternoon’s edition, I want to talk about DRose, and how although the Bulls have improved the team overall, the success of the season still lies in his hands.

There is no question that this is the best Bulls team of the Rose era.  It’s funny saying the Rose era since he really has only played 3 full seasons.  His rookie year was unforgettable. He won rookie of the year, as he joined Elton Brand and some guy named Jordan, as the only Bulls to ever do so.  The playoff series against the mighty Celtics was awesome.  The Bulls, coming in as the 7 seed, were heavy underdogs.  Rose, in his first playoff game, poured in 36 pts, as the Bulls won in OT in Boston in Game 1.  The series went 7, with the Bulls eventually going down.  But you could tell that he was going to be special.  He stepped up his game another notch in the playoffs, as did his teammate, Joakim Noah.  The Rose era began.

His second year was the 1st of 3 straight All Star appearances.  He led the Bulls to another playoff appearance, that ended in another playoff series loss, to Cleveland and Lebron James.  His third year was his MVP year, as he led the Bulls to the best record in the NBA.  This was also the first year of the Big 3.  We were on a crash course to meet them, and we did in the Eastern Conference Finals.  I was at that first game when we whipped their ass… one of the best games I’ve attended.  The Bulls would go on to lose the next 4, and bow out in 5 games.  Miami did lose to Dallas in the Finals, which made me feel a little better.  I was being patient with this Bulls team.  I figured we had to pay our dues, just like most great teams, before we reached the top.  I just knew that the next time we met this Miami team it would be different.  I just knew that we were on the brink of an NBA title.

Year 4 of his career was a tough one.  Injuries plagued him all year, and he only played 39 regular season games.  The Bulls still finished with the best record in the East, the first testament to the strength of this team.  Rose was back and healthy for the start of the playoffs against Philly.  This was going to be our year.  I couldn’t wait to face Miami again and take them down.  I wanted to fast forward to that matchup, as the rest of the East was not worthy of our time.  I couldn’t of course fast forward through the first 2 rounds, and it only took 1 game to change everything.  I almost cried that night, after it was announced he had torn his ACL and was done.  The Bulls title chances went up in smoke.  .
Therefore, there are hardly any side effects because of excellent anti-oxidant cipla viagra india properties. Rose would miss the entire next season, and as he came back the following year, he only played 10 games before another knee injury.  This time to his other knee, this time the torn meniscus variety.  The Bulls played valiantly in the playoffs, as they beat Brooklyn in a classic series, but lost to the Heat in the next round.  We had a lot of fight in us, but couldn’t beat the Heat without our best player.  Last year, the Bulls bowed out in the first round, again without Rose, as enough was enough.

It’s time… it’s time for Rose to come back… for good.  It’s time for the Bulls to enter the playoffs a healthy team.  We know they’re still hungry…  They have to be starving by now, 3 years later from Rose’s torn ACL.  We missed a window, and lost some guys along the way.  However, another window is open.  WIth LBJ going back home to Cleveland, the Heat are no longer the team to beat.  That team to beat is up for debate, but in my mind (of course), it is a healthy Bulls team.  A healthy Rose makes that Bulls team healthy.

So shake off all that rust this summer.  When you put that Bulls jersey back on, you’ll see some familiar faces, some battle tested warriors in Noah, Taj, Jimmy, and Kirk.  You’ll also see guys that make this Bulls team the best ever since you’ve been here, with Gasol, McDermott, Mirotic.  You’ll also see one of the best coaches patrolling the sideline.  Now, it’s time to look in that mirror, and see that guy, the MVP guy, one of the best players in the NBA, the leader of this team.  It’s time for us to see that guy.  It’s time for the return… for real this time.  It’s time to get something that we were supposed to have already:  a 7th NBA title.  See you soon Derrick… we’re ready and waiting.
