March 11, 2018: Remember

Remember when the Blackhawks were the best?  Sunday’s game was a trip into the time machine as the Blackhawks beat the mighty Bruins at the UC.

It was that early nationally televised game.  Those games that NBC hopes will feature the best in the NHL.  We’ve played in plenty of them.  Whether it was these Sunday games, the outdoor games, the rivalry nights, and of course primetime in the playoffs, the Blackhawks were can’t miss TV.  They were the class of the NHL.  They were the model franchise.  According to that SI article, they helped put hockey back on the map.  Seeing the Hawks play well and win one of these games brings me back.

The beautiful Kane goal that I could probably watch 100 times.  A Seabrook goal?!?!  A big win on home ice.  Yes, it was nice to see.  I wish we saw a lot more of that this year.

The season has been more of that other result, kind of like the game in Boston the afternoon before.  It was a good game through two periods, but the third was a train wreck.  It was just like the Hawks to play good for 2/3 of a game…this sinks us most nights.  It sunk us in this one.   The Bruins kicked the crap out of us in the third and coasted to an easy victory in front of their home crowd.

Some scientists believe that there are certain rules and regulations that need to be strictly followed. buy levitra I thought that’s ok though, because I remember a game that had a bit more importance where we silenced the Boston crowd.  Ah yes, the 2013 Stanley cup finals, game 6…17 seconds.  Yep, we’ll always have that on them, regardless of how much better than us they are this year.  Yes, we won when it really mattered, and brought that 2nd cup of the decade home to Chicago.  Yeah, I remember that well.

Bickell, Bolland…both guys long gone.  So many guys have come and gone.  I want to, and will eventually, do a blog about all the ex-Blackhawks floating around the league.  We could build a prettay, prettay good team with those guys.  It doesn’t seem right that THAT was the cost of being good.  Win a Cup and have to break the team up.  How many times have we had to play that game?  And we still won 3 Cups?!?

Yeah, I remember how hard that was.  Making the playoffs 10 straight years?  That wasn’t easy.  Bouncing back after not making the playoffs?  Well, I guess we’re going to find out.  How quickly can we get back to that place?

Plenty more to think and talk about, but for now, I’m going to enjoy that win over the Bruins.  Are we still mathematically alive?  Haha.  Go Hawks!

Time machine it was…turn back 5 years please as the Hawks faced chara and the bruins for the Cup that year. Who will ever forget 17 seconds? What an amazing way to end a series! I mean, we were just celebrating tying the game to send it to ot…but no, the Hawks were not done as bolland put back a rebound 17 seconds after the bickell game tying goal to give the Hawks the lead and their 2nd Cup of the decade. Just awesome stuff! Yes, we will always hold that over any bruins fans’ heads. It has been quite a run for these Hawks. 10 straight playoffs years has been damn good. Time to retool to get this squad back next year. Hockey and playoff hockey is not the same without the Hawks. Last year, the beard had no time to grow once they were swept. This year, no need to even think about it. Next year Hawks, next year! GO HAWKS!!!
