November 6, 2017: Bears Packers Week

posted in: Bears | 1

There’s a certain ring to it; there always has been.  Bears Packers Week.  Yes, it’s been rough… for a long time… We’ve been getting our skulls bashed in; Green Bay has caught us in the overall series record.  It’s been 25 years of facing a franchise QB without one of our own; is the tide about to finally turn?  I sure as hell hope so.

Growing up in the 80s, it was a different story.  We owned them.  Those were the only glory days that I can refer back to for the Bears, minus a few of the Lovie years.  The Packers were our whipping boys.  That was one of the best parts about those years.

Since then, it hasn’t been fun.  There have been many years when beating the Packers was our goal for the year.  Finishing 2-14 for the year, but those 2 wins coming against the Packers, would have counted as a successful year.  Those were the down years…

We’re still in the down years, yet, this week, this game, may present what we hope is a glimpse into the future.  Our Bears with a franchise QB vs the Packers without one.  Of course, Rodgers is not done forever, but I think he is closer to the end than the beginning.  And if Mitchell is the man for us, it’s only just begun.  Could it be?  Are the days of beating up on the Packers about to return?

Of course I’m anxious for that to happen, but I need to pump the brakes.  It’s only one game.  Rodgers will be back.  We don’t know if Mitchell will be that guy; we kind of think he will be.  But for this one game, I’m hoping to see great things.

I’m hoping to pay back just a little bit of all the pain they’ve caused us, especially recently.  I’m hoping to pay them back with a blowout of our own, a shutout.  I’m thinking 31-0 would be satisfying.  Who am I kidding?  Any win over these jerks would be, but I want more… I want some revenge.  I want to pound the hell out of them, and this is our best chance in a long time.

We’re actually favorites in this game for the first time in 9 years!  Think about that.  We have been the underdog in this series in every single game for almost a decade.  I bet going back even another 10 years, would show us being an underdog 90% of the time.  Yes, it’s been too long.

I can’t think of a professional team that I hate more than the Packers.  The Cardinals come close in baseball; the Cavs in basketball because of LeBron.  Hockey… the Kings, Preds, Blues, they’ve all took turns, but nothing to this level.

We’ve waited a long time for it to come back around.  I mean, how lucky can one franchise get?  2 franchise QBs in a row?  And us with our checkered QB history?  It hasn’t been a fair fight.  They’ve gotten extremely lucky.  If they were any good, they would have won more than just 1 Super Bowl with each of these franchise QBs.  Screw them!

I want the reign to be over.  I want this to be a true rivalry again; a slugfest with both of us trading blows… one where the team with the G on their helmet ends up on the ground.  I want to beat up on them again.  I want to own this rivalry again.  I’m hoping it starts this Sunday.

I broke out the Bears ski cap this week; it was time.  It is time.  I haven’t looked forward to a Bears game this much in a long time.  Can’t wait until Sunday.  Bear Down!

Time for the Bears fortunes to start heading in the right direction, not just vs the cheese, either. Bears fans are hoping MTru is the guy. He seems like he might be, but it is hard to tell with little weapons around him to catch the ball. If he is finally “the guy,” maybe the Bears can experience a franchise guy at the most important position for the next 10+ years. How damn nice would that be? Long over due for sure. Coming off their bye, the Bears get to beat on the cheese, who looked horrible vs the lions on Monday night. So a short week for them coupled with a bye for the Bears, plus no discount double check, all should equal what? DA Bears 88, cheese -12…HAHAHA. It should equal a Bears beatdown, hopefully. Would sure be nice to dish out some punishment for all the beatings the Bears have been receiving from the cheese. Hope the D pounds hundley back to ucla while MTru leads the O to 3+ touchdowns. A win pulls the Bears even with the cheese. When is the last time that has happened after 9 games? My guess is double digit years. End the hibernation Bears and feed on some cheese! BEAR DOWN!!!
