This week in the NFL was bad all the way around.  I could write another 1,000 words about how pissed I am about the Bears performance, but then to get my ass kicked in fantasy football and see my fantasy picks go up in flames, it was one to forget.

My fantasy team took one on the chin against the commish.  When Julio Jones and Giovanni Bernard combine for 14.2 points, you know you’re in trouble.  It doesn’t help to play against Peyton Manning as he dropped another 55.7 this week.  It was a train wreck, and since I tied my picks to this matchup, my picks were pathetic too.

I actually went 2-3.  My two starters Scott Chandler and Jerick McKinnon outperformed Jared Cook and Fred Jackson; they were not the problem in my matchup either.  It was everybody else.  Peyton crushed Eli and Demaryius crused Wayne; Wayne may be one step from retirement.  Then it was Alshon with his 2 catch performance NOT capitalizing on Marshawn Lynch’s pedestrian game to complete the losing week.

So my fantasy team sits at 3-4.  It’s really bunched up in our league with the first place team sitting at 5-2 and the last place team sitting at 2-5.  Need to get back on the winning side of things this week.  On the picks front, my record sits at 19-24.

I have to think that Papa Vegas is fattening his pockets this year so far.  This year has been anything but predictable.  Hell, on the Bears games alone this year, I’m sure PV has cleaned up.  Oakland remains the only team without a win & loss on their ledger, having only losses so far.  Do you know if the playoffs started today, Seattle AND San Francisco would both be OUT.  That’s right, Philly, Dallas, GB, Detroit, Carolina, and Arizona would be the NFC playoff teams.  That’s just flat out scary.  My bet is that half of those teams will NOT see postseason play.  In the AFC, it’s a little more expected.  NE, Baltimore, CIncy, Indy, Denver, and San Diego are in playoff position today.  I’m expecting most of those teams if not ALL of those teams to be there come January.

There were some records broken this week by Peyton Manning and DeMarco Murray, two players that I’m not fans of.  Peyton seems like a good guy, and he’s one of the best QBs of all time, but with a Bears Super Bowl loss at his hands, I can’t be a fan.  Meanwhile, each week the Cowboys win and I begin to hate them more.  I’ve never liked the Cowboys; they may be due for a Hate File.  DeMarco has been great so far, but he has never had more than 250 carries in a year, if I heard correctly, AND he’s been injury prone.  That all adds up to some missed time going forward.  Anybody with shares of Murray should be looking to get top dollar for him, right now.  The shoplifter will soon be getting some playing time behind him.

I’m actually ready to watch the World Series, and get my mind off the Bears and football for a couple days.  It’s been a rough year so far.  It’s also fun to watch the Hawks right now, since they are so fricking good.  That is minimum stress too, at least so early in the year.  However, the stress of watching the Bulls has already been brewing in the preseason.  I’ve actually caught a few games, including the one vs Cleveland.  With a fight with Pierce, the continued talk about Rose’s health, and having to listen to everything about Lebron and Cleveland, the season can’t start early enough.  This Bulls team has a lot to prove, and appears ready to do so.  Yet, it seems like it will be a fight night in night out to prove to the league and ourselves how good this team could be.  I’m ready for that too.  I’m ready to see the Bulls be great again.

There’s never a quiet day in the life of a fan.  This stuff takes up a lot of our time and energy, maybe too much.  Every now and then you need a break… but not now.  Actually, when is really a good time?  The multiple sports going on at one time help mix things up, and that’s a good thing, especially when a team like the Bears has been causing so much frustration.  I need a break… at least a couple days… before I get back into Bears mode.  Maybe it’s the perfect time for the approaching bye week, although another loss this week could make that a LONG 2 weeks…  We need a good surprise to really enjoy that bye week…  If anything I’ve learned so far this year, nothing is out of the question.
