October 9, 2017: Moving Sucks

Raise your hand if you like moving.  I see no one.

Moving sucks. It’s a pain in the ass.  I’ve done it a few times…

When I was 21, I moved out of the house I grew up in; my parents still live there today.  So many good memories there.  But at 21, I needed to get out on my own, so I moved 2 blocks away…ha!  Still, it was my first apartment.  It was awesome.  That wasn’t too bad a move.

About 5 years later, I moved in with my girlfriend; it didn’t work out, so I was back to that same apartment before I moved again cross country for that same girlfriend; she’s my wife now…it’s a long story.  Moving cross country to LA actually wasn’t that bad either now that I think about it.  A handful of years later we made the trek back to Chicago together.

From apartment to Condo to now, house; well, not quite yet.  Closing day is 10/10, but we’re just about there.  Today, 10/9, brought us the day we had to vacate our place.  Fun times.

We said we would pay for people to do this next time, but we didn’t.  We packed it all up, called in the family troops, and got that Uhaul.  The day started about 10am; the goal was to be done by 3pm Cubs game 3 start time.  We made it.

It was Almora who came through with the first big hit in this one.  This of course was after the Schwarby incident followed by another quick Joe hook which lead to Strop giving up the first run of the game.  As soon as they went lefty, I called for Joe to swap AA in for Kyle;  he did, and he came through..tie game.

It was like this until the bottom of the 8th when the new Rizzo gif was born: Respect Me!  I really thought it was stupid for Dusty to pitch to him; I know I’m not alone.  Other than maybe KB, there is nobody I would want to face in that situation than Rizz.  There was an open bag.  He’s already had 4 ribbies in this series.  No brainer.

But no, Dusty brought in a lefty, not even his best lefty, to face him.  And yes, he didn’t scorch it, but he came through.  That’s the whole point.  You avoid a guy like that in this situation.  Anthony has it, and after Wade shut the door, the series lead was ours.

I ended up watching the end of the game at my parents house.  Our son was hanging out there all day with two of his cousins while we moved.  Chalk up another good memory there; is there any more room for those from there?

Well, there will be no more memories at our condo. We are outta here.  But we had our fair share there.  Our first place we bought together, lived there when we got married, adopted our puppy, had our boy.  So lucky to continue to have good memories wherever I go; time to start adding some in a new location.  Oh yeah, closing time is the same time as Game 4 at Wrigley.  Go Cubs!

Moving does suck but glad to help. Memories are made wherever we go. Old ones are remembered and new ones will be made. Best of luck in the new house!
As for the Cubs, respect them! They are the defending champs! Yes, not by rolling everybody over like in 2016, but they still won the 90+ games and the nl central. Trusty in dusty? Yeah ok. Way to pitch to Rizzo in an rbi spot and get burnt. As he said, RESPECT ME! Same goes for the Cubs. Not agreeing with every move Maddon is making, but would rather have him than dusty any day. The nats are talented and favored to take out the Cubs, but the Cubs are deep and talented as well as the defending Champs! Respect that and GO CUBS GO!!!
