Joakim Noah is the guy that I think of. When we drafted him back in 2007, I was not happy. Here comes this tweener who can’t score. Here’s this skinny clown with a bow tie that isn’t going to help our team. We needed a scorer, not a younger version of Ben Wallace. Well, thankfully, I was wrong. Noah proved me, and anybody else who thought like me, to be very wrong. He gained my respect, and became one of the most loved players in this city, by working hard.
He put in work. He put on weight. He got stronger. He worked on his offensive game. Yeah, the shot isn’t pretty, but he does get to pull the guns out quite often. He also has a little bit of a post-up game, thanks to working with Kareem. He’s put in the time, and it shows in his game. His non-stop motor, and as Stacey King likes to say, heart, hustle, and muscle, has led to an all star appearance and defensive player of the year. It’s fitting that he plays in this city, for this team.
Joined with Thibodeau, this is a match made in basketball heaven. Here’s a coach who expects nothing less than full effort every single time up and down the court with a player who gives it. It’s contagious. Enter Taj Gibson. Here’s another guy who gets it. Luol Deng, although no longer here, got it. Hinrich is a warrior. Jimmy Butler fits the mold. How will Gasol, Mirotic, and McDermott fit in? They have to know what they’re getting themselves into. This is a team that works hard… no exceptions; not even for their superstar.

2015 is the Bulls year. The hardest working team in the NBA, has put some additional talent on the roster this team. This team is built to win now. And while Kevin Love is so happy to play for a great organization.. hold on a second, what did he say? Cleveland sucks. The Cavaliers suck. They’ve won NOTHING, and they’re a great organization??? Meanwhile, back on planet earth, one of the best organizations in the NBA is the Bulls. Now there’s a team that has something behind that statement, with 6 championship titles, most of which we ran over the Cavs to get. Yeah, it’s 20 years later, but it’s time to run over the Cavs again.
It’s time to run over whoever stands in our way. Whether it be Cleveland, Miami, Washington, or New York (just kidding… sorry Melo & Phil, the Knicks still suck) in the East, the Bulls will prevail. It would be fitting to meet the Spurs in the Finals; another of the hard working teams in the NBA. We can play a grueling 7 game series that would end with a Bulls victory, sending the Spurs off into the sunset, and starting another run of titles for the Bulls.
Well, I’m not here to say that our other teams are NOT hard working, but I think the Bulls are the MOST hard working team in our blue collar city. We love teams like this, and that’s why we love these Bulls. Noah personifies this in the way that he plays every game. He’s not the most skilled guy on the court, but he gets the most out of his talents; something that would be a good goal for all of us. So on Labor Day, here’s a toast to Noah; the hardest working man in Chicago sports.
