September 11, 2017: Bears Monday

posted in: Bears | 1

Preview Friday.  Game Sunday.  Rehash Monday.  That’s a nice rhythm to fall into during football season.  Being only the first Bears Monday, we’re going to try to keep our hopes high.

I actually did think it would be a close game for one of the reasons it was.  Besides the breakdown on the 88 yard TD pass, the defense was solid, no?  The Falcons have one of the better offenses in all of football, no?  It’s only the first game, no?  I’m buying the Bears defense. The only problem, that was a historic problem last year, was the lack of turnovers.  If they can improve on that one component, the defense will be really good.

I didn’t like the long TD for obvious reasons.  It stung a little extra since I benched Hooper on my fantasy team this week.  Still, I love what he had to say about it.  Something like, he was waiting for that ball for what seemed like forever…he kind of blacked out…  It was pretty cool…bastard.  It made me remember the famous blown coverage where Manning fell down in the secondary in the Super Bowl.  Or how about one of the Packers TDs that broke our backs over the years?  Yes, why are we good for that every now and then?

We had a chance to win, which is all you can ask for in this league.  To be in every game is important; it’s not as important as winning every game, but you have to be in it to win it, right?  Still, we’ve seen the Bears lose games like this way too much lately.  But, this is a different Bears team, right?

I’d like to think so.  Poor Kevin White got hurt again in this one; he’s done.  We never really got to see what he could do.  It’s our own damn fault though.  We knew he had an injury history.  We drafted him 7 overall anyways.  Taking a chance at an injury guy late in the draft like Eddie Jackson is one thing; taking that chance with the 7th overall pick is another.  We can beat this thing to death.

It’s the QB position that gets everybody going anyways, not the wide outs.  Glennon played OK.  I think this is the Mike Glennon we can get used to; I don’t want to get used to this guy though.  It’s hard to wait until Christmas to open that brand new toy; I just hope we don’t have to wait that long.  I can beat this one to death too.

I guess the best thing is that I’m excited about Bears football again.  The coach killer really drained me over the years.  To be rid of that plague feels great, even with Glennon.  For the sky to truly be the limit, we know what needs to happen, regardless of who is playing at WR.  We may have a guy that can actually make others better.  Who doesn’t want to see that?

I didn’t get the win I predicted, but we’re still on track for that 1-3 start, which will lead to the debut we’re waiting for.  Feels like we’re just biding time here.  Until then and always, Bear Down!

Yes, the Bears actually had a chance to win vs the falcons. Not many people would have thought that. To be a good team, you have to win the close games. The Bears did not and are not that good team right now. They look better, though. The D played great minus the long TD breakdown. Yes, they need to create some turnovers. This used to be a staple of this team but not so much any more. Come to find out now, Freeman is out for the year…that could be a big loss for this D. As for the offense, glass white is out again…go figure. Guy had talent and speed to get drafted at #7, but the Bears have been able to see none of it…3 straight season enders? Yeah, cut ties with this glass case. As for Glennon, nothing special. He managed the game and put the team in position to win. With the worst wide receiving corp in the nfl, what more can be expected? A win of course, but he should still be on a short leash…not really his fault, just a circumstance of the situation. 2 positives that I saw were Howard, who we knew based on last year, and Cohen, who impressed everyone in the preseason and did the same in game 1. The kid can play. Speaking of which, why the hell was he not on the field with first and goal at the 5 and a chance to win the game? That falls on fox and his old ass mind. Cohen had been the best player on the field for the Bears, yet somehow he did not sniff the field until 4th down. WTF fox!?! Makes no sense. The time to win is now…enough patience and waiting. Get the best players on the field to help the Bears win. Howard. Cohen. MTru? Stay tuned. Week 1 is in the books and the Bears took another L. Time to bounce back and pound tampa bay, like a certain hurricane just did…too soon? BEAR DOWN!!!
