The NFL Draft has arrived. Who will the Bears pick? There were rumors of them trading up to get Jeanty; I would have been perfectly fine with that, as long as it wasn’t a king’s ransom, or… maybe he’d be worth it? OR, would the Bears go “boring” and pick someone on the OL or DL; I like boring, and anybody who knows anything, knows this game played on the gridiron is won and lost in the trenches, so… OR, what about the TE rumblings? Well, we have Kmet already, but… if Ben wants a TE, then that kid from Penn State would be just fine. What will happen?
I thought the Bears had done it. My Raiders fan in LA was worried we were going to snag him. The rumors about a first round trade were there. Then, I had 3 text messages back to back to back AND a phone call from my brother. We were walking around the Wharf, just after finishing some Clam Chowder in a bread bowl. This has to be the Jeanty call, right? Wrong! All these texts, and this phone call, were about the intro to the draft, and the stunt dumb ass Clay Matthews pulled, taking a shot at the Bears in front of cheesehead central. Haha… man, he got some of the boys fired up; guess I was glad I wasn’t watching. But, it didn’t upset me like that; what would you expect from that dope outside of Lambeau, with the Bears getting a little better each year, coming fresh off a win in Lambeau in Caleb Williams’ first start there, seriously. F them, today, and always. Nah, I wanted to know who the Bears took; text me back when that happens… haha.
A little while later, while waiting in line to head out to Alcatraz, the text from my brother came in: Loveland TE Michigan. What? My son was refreshing his phone during this waiting period too; my wife just loved that let me tell you. I’m sorry, what can I say; he IS my mini-me… haha. But yeah, what, who? Here comes another off the wall first round pick is what I thought initially. Our front office always thinking they’re smarter than somebody else. OK, fine we took a TE, but NOT the kid from Penn State? Of course since then, there’s all this talk about multiple teams trying to trade up to grab him; the Bears made a great pick… yada yada. I will say this: this was a Ben Johnson pick. And, since he is our new (offensive guru) head coach, well… we’re riding with Ben; all aboard!
So there you go… first round in the books, and the Bears have another offensive weapon at their disposal; what will come next? For us, it was on the boat to Alcatraz for a night tour; that was really cool! I had been once before, but not at night, and this time… we were allowed into the yard, where the inmates would play baseball and handball. Imagine, Al Capone hitting a home run off the island? Hopefully, our Chicago Bears did that on this night with this pick. Welcome to the crew Colston. Bear Down!
