Hey, Matas Buzelis made the 2nd team all rookie; woohoo! Wait, he didn’t make the first team??? He should have. Maybe if Billy started playing him a bit more earlier in the year. We were about to start making “Free Matas” T-shirts in an attempt to get our HOF coach to play the kid. Billy Donovan cost Buzelis a shot on the all-rookie team. I think that’s what it boils down to. Thanks Billy.
Yeah, I miss a coach like Thibs. I know all Bulls fans would not be in agreement here, but… Thibs was the man. An old-school, hard nosed coach that doesn’t really fit into today’s NBA model. Yes, the load management, pampering of superstars today, is a joke; at least one coach gets it. And, if you play for Thibs, you get it too, like the Knicks right now, sitting in the Eastern Conference Finals. Sure, it helps to have a guy like Brunson on your team, but this Knicks team has the character of their coach; this is why I like them. This is why I root for them. Seeing what happened on Tuesday night in Game 1… ouch.
Look, it’s nowhere close to a Bulls gut-shot loss; in fact, I felt zero pain watching the Knicks choke the game away… I was just a little disappointed. Geez, did you see that shot to send the game to OT? What a lucky bounce! And then, Haliburton does a premature choke gesture… that pissed me off. Look, if that WAS the game winner, then fine; do your thing man, run around, grabbing your big balls… all good. But… your foot was on the line; the game was NOT over. So anxious to get that in… wait until the time was right, until you secured the W. I was hoping the Knicks stuck it to them in OT, but… the Pacers prevailed, in an absolute shocker.
I think… Can the Knicks recover from this type of disaster? From an investment standpoint, will they win and cover Game 2 of the ECF in MSG? The Pacers have delivered some body blows during their playoff run this postseason, including some historic comebacks, just like this one, when they woke up in the knick of time… The Knicks say they took their foot off the gas, but… either way you cut it, it ain’t pretty. And now, I hate to use this term, but Game 2 is about as close to a “must-win” as there is; heading to Indiana down 2-0… over. So back to my original question: Will the Knicks bounce back?
I think about their coach and his toughness, what I miss here in Chicago. I think if his team has his character… which I think they do. Then yes, yes they WILL bounce back. They should come out with absolute guns blazing in game 2, right? Right. Now the only question: will they cover the 6 point spread? Haha… We’ll find out Friday night.
