The Blackhawks won on Monday night in Montreal, in a game that was “meaningless”. The Blackhawks have been eliminated from playoff contention for some time. They have 2nd lowest point total in the NHL; this win did not jeopardize that. It did however jeopardize the Montreal Canadiens’ playoff chances. Yes, the game was anything but meaningless to them; it meant everything! And the lowly Blackhawks still pulled it out… How? Why? Well, maybe the Blackhawks are still playing for something. Maybe there is such a thing as carry over momentum into the next season. Maybe the Blackhawks are showing signs of improvement, that maybe NEXT year will be a much better one. We can only hope.
Over the last 6 games, the Blackhawks have been alternating wins and losses, a far cry from the rest of their season’s results. Losing streaks of 4, 5, 5, 4, 5, 7, and finally 5, were part of the 82 game grind; I’m not even counting 2 & 3 game losing streaks. On the flip side, and I WILL count streaks of 2 or 3, because there were NO winning streaks of more than that. Yes, that’s right. The Hawks winning streaks’ consist of 2, 3, and 2 games… that’s it! I’m kind of floored by it to be honest with you, but nothing we can do about that. What the Hawks CAN do, is win the season finale in Ottawa on Tuesday night, to add one more 2 game winning streak to the season’s ledger. Ottawa has nothing to play for btw… ***Betting Tip***
The Blackhawks are going to have another high draft pick; I have zero clue about the top prospects. I typically don’t, unless of course we’re talking about a “generational guy” like Connor Bedard; we still feeling that way? With patience so thin in today’s world, I can see how people would question this. Not only can you point to the team’s performance since he’s arrived, but you can certainly pick apart his game, like we’ve seen at times throughout the year, including from the national media. As for my personal opinion of Connor, it’s still early; he’s not even legal drinking age yet. 81 career assists is the most by a teenager in Blackhawks’ history. He also joined the group of Kane, Toews, Breadman, and Brinsky Cat, as the 5th Blackhawks in the last 20 years to start his career with consecutive 20 goal seasons. You can certainly debate the “generational” tag, but I think it’s pretty safe to say… the best is yet to come for 98. I’m here for it.
I’m here for the return of the Blackhawks to the top of the NHL; wow, there’s a homer statement. OK, how about this? I’m here for the return of the Blackhawks to the postseason. They only missed it by 30+ points this year… So yeah, I’m expecting a jump in year 3 of Connor, not only for him personally, but for the team; the rebuild HAS to take a step forward. If 3 is not the charm, well, how much more patience do you have? Go Hawks!
