The early results are in: my fantasy baseball teams are damn good… haha. When I say early, I mean REALLY early, like after 1 week early; yes, I’m undefeated in both leagues. Hey, the first week was a long one… an extra 4 days due to the start of the season. The only other week that will be like that is after the All-Star game; maybe at the end of the season too??? Will have to check into that at some point.
Checking our fantasy baseball teams is a daily routine for my son and I at breakfast. I still have his team on my phone too. We were going to set it up to his email, so he can have on his phone, but… he’s not quite “living on his phone” yet, which is a good thing. I can very easily check stuff when I’m checking my other two teams, but at breakfast, it’s his turn to review his lineup. Of course, he had the best week of anyone in the family league. He is 1-0 AND has the most points in the league, which is good for first place after one week. We talk about him avenging his 2nd place finish last year, his loss in the title game. My brother-in-law made a trophy to recognize all the winners of our fantasy leagues over the years, kind of like our own Stanley Cup. Since I won the last one, the fantasy football championship, the trophy is residing in our house; I told my son if he wins, we can keep it here… in the house of fantasy legends… haha. I told him, I have my fantasy football legend hoodie already, but for my birthday, hook up that fantasy baseball legend shirt; I deserve it… haha.
As the new week begins, I jump out to a big lead in both leagues; yeah, I’m strutting my stuff right now… talking crap to my son, showing him my phone with the matchups, saying “this is what I do!!!”… yeah, it’s my flex right now. Of course, that can all change in a day, and most definitely from week to week, but… I’m going to enjoy it while the getting is good; let me feel myself a bit. It’s all fun, to me at least. 48 years old and I still love this shit.
I think like the sports wagering, it’s all about the sweat for me… it’s all about the competitive aspect of it all. I don’t play on any actual teams any more; I don’t play against my buddies on Madden or any other sports game. Shit, I barely even play cards with the boys any more. THIS is my competition outlet; I definitely need it. Of course, there are those basketball games in the basement against my boy; those are fun. Other than that, and any other little competition me and him got going on, there’s nothing… but my DK account and my fantasy teams, so…
Let the fantasy baseball season continue, and let my teams continue to dominate. How about going undefeated? I don’t think that’s ever been done in any of our fantasy baseball seasons. If this week’s proceedings continue, I’ll have 2 weeks under my belt; only 23 more to go… haha.
