November 10, 2017: Week 10 Packers at Bears

posted in: Bears | 1

It feels like it’s been a long week… just waiting for Sunday to roll around.  I can’t even remember the last time I was this excited for a Bears game.  I hope they don’t let me down.

I’ve already told you about my feelings for the Packers, which made me think have I ever liked any Packer.  And, sorry to disappoint you, but I have liked a Packer before.  The first and one of the only ones that comes to mind is Reggie White.  How can you not like Reggie White?  I know, I know, once they put on the green and gold, they’re supposed to be dead to me.  I remember thinking Sterling Sharpe was OK too…  I’m struggling to think of any others over the years.  Of course, we Bears fans know that McMahon and Mongo played for the Pack after they won our only Super Bowl; no hard feelings there though.  That’s kind of like Dexter Fowler going to the Cardinals.  I can’t root for him, but I don’t hate him.  He won here, just as they won here.  That kind of allows you to do whatever the hell you want in my book, meaning, you can play with whoever you want to after that point, including these teams that I hate.

So there, I gave you a couple Packers that I like; now to list the Packers that I dislike.  Let me make it really easy for you.  Look up the Packers all time rosters and minus out Reggie and Sterling; there you go.  The dislike of the Packers comes easy to me.  It’s always there… always rooting for the team they play against each week, but when we play them… it’s right there in my face.  It hasn’t been fun.

This is why I look forward to this game so much.  Are we worried about the Packers offense doing something against the Bears defense this week?  Even if they had Rodgers (but I’m happy that they don’t), the way the defense has been playing would give me a little confidence.  8 turnovers in the past 3 games.  Coming off a bye week.  Relatively healthy.  Just starting to see how good they can be.  Fangio’s principles finally being understood by guys talented enough to execute them.  Yes, it’s an exciting time for the Bears defense.  They really need to show their teeth against this Packer offense minus Aaron.  I think they will.

But, that’s only half the battle.  We still need to score points to win, and we can’t rely on the defense to do that too, can we?  Although a pick 6 would be nice, we will need the offense to live up to their part of the bargain.  I don’t think we’ll need much.  I think we can get most of it via the running game.  But, we will need to make some plays through the air too.  Will it be Inman or Wheaton?  Will it be Shaheen ? (had to check that spelling)  Will it be Trubisky beating the Green Bay blitz with his legs?

This is an important stepping stone for the Bears.  I’m not asking for them to win the Super Bowl this year, or even make the playoffs (although I don’t feel that’s out of the question… both of those… yeah, I said it).  I am asking for them to beat the teams they should beat.  I’m asking for them to win games within the division.  I’m asking for them to protect the home field.  This Green Bay team checks all those boxes.

I’m looking for the Bears to take the next step this second half of the season.  Already matching their entire win total from last year, every win from here on out is improvement.  How improved will we end up?  That may determine the future of many people in this organization going forward.  It all starts with THIS game.

Final Score Prediction–>  Bears 31 Packers 0

OK, I know that’s wishful thinking, but… remember where you saw it first.  I want to pummel them.

Ace in the Hole–>  Bears defense:  6 sacks, 3 turnovers, 1 TD

I am really setting myself up here to be disappointed.  I feel like I’m pushing All In on this Sunday’s game.  I’m excited to finally feel this way about a Bears game again.  I’m ready; are the Bears ready?  Bear Down Baby!!!

  1. MK

    Bears 27, cheese 13
Mtru with 250+ yards and 3 tds (2 in the air and 1 with his legs)

Think it will finally be the Bears turn to do some beating. They are rested and hopefully game-planned well enough to beat this weak cheese team. Without double crack collarbone boy, the Bears D should be able to handle what the cheese has on offense. As for the Bears offense, I am hoping MTru is ready to lead and has gelled with some guys to get the pass game on track, just like the running game has been. A solid combination of both should be enough on Sunday. Let’s hope it happens! The excitement is in the air. I’m ready, too. Bears? BEAR DOWN!!!
