October 15, 2014: Six in the City

posted in: Bears | 2

So week 6 in the NFL is in the books; it was a very eventful one.

Let’s start with my pick results.  Ryan Tannehill outscored Eli Manning easily. Tannehill is 2-0 for me in my picks; he’ll be going for the hat trick soon.  CJ Spiller will NOT be used ever again.  I picked the right guy to go against in Eddie Lacy, as he had a bad game.  The only problem was that CJ was worse.  CJ, you’re dead to me.  At WR, it was the opposite; I picked the wrong guy to go against.  Brandon Marshall had a great game, but it wasn’t enough to outpoint Demaryius Thomas, who has blown up these past 2 weeks.  Maybe I shouldn’t go against him any more… I doubled up at TE quite nicely, going with Ertz over Donnell again.  With 1 catch in 2 weeks, the honeymoon for Donnell and his owners is over.  Find another TE to play.  Ertz even got in the end zone for good measure… easy win.

I swept the Wild Card and Bonus picks this week, with Steve Smith outpointing Leveon Bell, and Branden Oliver outscoring Shady McCoy.  That’s a 4-2 record; my 2nd straight week over .500.  My total record stands at 17-21 as I inch closer to .500 overall.  I’ve been pretty hot with my picks; unfortunately I can’t make the correct picks when it comes to my fantasy team.

Looking around the NFL, we start with the Green Bay game.  Now I know why I don’t watch ANY Green Bay games unless they’re playing the Bears.  As I tuned in for the final 8 minutes, I was treated to an Aaron Rodgers comeback that had my blood boiling.  Man was I glad that the Bears won.  How about that Lovie Smith defense down in Tampa?  Geez, are they really that bad; 5 Joe Flacco TDs in the first half!?!  I thought the Raiders had their first victory locked up, and then they blew it.  I absolutely knew that Philly was going to take out the Giants on Sunday night.  I actually tried to pick up the Philly defense on the waiver wire this week, but the guy ahead of me grabbed them.  The guy that sits across from me.  The guy I told to go pick up a new defense.  If I would have had the Philly defense instead of the STL defense, I would have won my matchup.  Oh well…

The Bears really saved the day, and that is what is most important every week.  Don’t care what happens with any other game, with my fantasy league, with my fantasy picks, as long as the Bears win.  If they could only duplicate that effort every week…  They really need to this week at home, where they look for their first victory against a Miami team that took Green Bay to the brink.  It’s a game they should win, but we all know how that goes.  Six in the book, and lucky seven ahead….  Rolling, rolling, rolling….
