April 1, 2024: No Fooling Day

My wife and I were in Vegas by ourselves… this was not a joke; this was no April Fools. I couldn’t believe it. Monday would be our last full day before returning back home. How did we enjoy it?

Well, let’s just say we were “celebrating” from sun up to sun down. This celebrating all weekend long did make it difficult to stay up throughout the evening; yes, we did NOT pull an all nighter on any of our nights in Vegas. We did pretty good though. We hit a ton of casinos, and played in all of them. Yes, it was slot heaven. You see, one of the big differences in this trip was being able to gamble together. On the previous bunch of trips with my son, we had to gamble in shifts. My wife would go down during the day, when my son and I were at the pool. I would go down in the late evening, when my wife and son were winding down in the room. No need for this rotation on this trip. Yes, we would be sitting down together at the slot machines the entire time. Of course, we would ensure that free drinks accompanied this venture; we did really good on that. You hear about the lack of waitresses and the long time you have to wait for drinks. Not saying we didn’t experience that, but… give the waitress a $5 bill, and tell her to bring another round right away, and… it works.

We were deciding what the heck we would be drinking on this trip. I don’t think either one of us wanted to fill up on beer. My wife’s drink of choice was diet coke and rum; mine was 7-7s. Of course, that was on top of the big slushie drink we got each morning. Ah yes, the breakfast of champions, walking around with a big ass drink first thing in the morning… haha. THIS is Vegas baby! Put an extra shot in that bad boy too for good measure. So how did we do on those slot machines? Not good.

We donated a bit on each one of our visits, except for the one casino we hit at Monday afternoon. We won over $200 on a Wheel of Fortune slot; we needed to mix in another machine, since OUR machines weren’t hitting. Our machine is Top Dollar; we looked for it at every casino we visited… we found them at most. You’re looking for the “Top Dollar” symbol in the last roll. When you hit it, you’ll get a dollar offer; you need to choose to accept it or proceed to the next offer. In total, you will get 4 offers. It’s a lot of fun, when you actually hit it. You see, this machine goes back to our LA to Vegas trips… we found one at Flamingo, and played the heck out of it, doing pretty well. Since then, it was over. We knew which machine was our go-to. Yes, we like Wheel of Fortune, and some of the diamond slots too, but Top Dollar… that was the top dog. After this Vegas trip, maybe we should reconsider… haha.

It’s all good. Remember, we weren’t worrying about money until we landed back in Chicago. We were going to have fun, whether or not that included winning anything. And we were having a lot of fun, so… mission accomplished!
