As our Vegas trip was coming to an end, I told my wife the thing I hated the most about Las Vegas. The part of Las Vegas I hated the most was… leaving. Yes, it was the absolute worst; I never wanted to come back… haha. We would see people with their suitcases in the casino, knowing the difference between the folks who were just checking in, and those who were leaving. It was brutal. However, it would be different this time. This time, leaving wouldn’t be so bad… because by the end of the day, we would be back together with our son. Yeah, not bad at all. We talked to him multiple times per day throughout our trip. We knew he was having a lot of fun; we also knew that he missed us. The feeling was mutual. My wife and I had an awesome time on this trip, but there were times throughout, where we missed our boy. We would land on Tuesday early evening; my son would land soon after us. We would finally be reunited.

We squeezed the last few hours out of our time in Vegas though. These trips always end with a visit to In-N-Out with her dad; this was no different. In-N-Out is legit. Maybe it’s because we don’t have them in Chicago, but man… tastes great. My wife made sure we brought a burger home for our son too. Now we can head to the airport. I don’t remember too much of the flight home, trying to get some of that rest back from what we left in Vegas. The burger wasn’t the only thing we brought back to our son. We actually stopped at the UNLV campus; we like to visit colleges on our trips and grab something for our boy. We hit both Central Florida and Miami on our trips to Florida, and now UNLV. He got a jersey that he should be able to wear to his basketball camp this summer; he loved it.

We were going to wait for him at the gate in the airport, but since we had almost 3 hours to wait… we decided to change plans. We ran home, regrouped, and headed back to the airport; we waited for him right outside of security. I joked with my wife… she was like me, right before she gave birth to our son. My wife was pacing around, waiting to see my son walking down the hall; I love it. Finally, she said… there he is! And yes, there he was… with a little more color than normal, looking exhausted from his sun-up to sun-down fun… kind of like his mama and papa… haha. Yes, we were all very tired, but we were back with each other… all was well.

We had to both come back on this day, not a day later. Yes, my son’s birthday was tomorrow; we could NOT be apart on this day. Maybe there will be a birthday in the future, when he gets older, when we will not see each other in person, but not now… not any time soon if we have anything to say about it. We all had a lot of fun over the past days, but it was especially great to be home from these trips. Time to go home…
