Part two of the anniversary celebration brings us to how long I’ve been doing this blog. It’s directly linked to how many years I’ve been at my current job. I started doing this the day after I hit 20 years on the job, and since I just celebrated 26 years on the job, that means it’s Happy 6 Years to The Local Sports Talk; easy enough for anyone with simple math skills. Doing this every day for 6 years is easy too, right?

Well, there are times when it is difficult, like when life gets busy. Whether it be at home with the family or at the job, when things get a little hectic, it’s hard to keep doing it. Other than that though, it’s not so bad. Maybe it’s because I love to write; one of the reasons I started doing this. Maybe it’s what I write about, mostly about Chicago sports, which I grew up with, and still love to this day. I always say this is my therapy… and it is. To let the words flow off the top is a good way to sort through your thoughts. Thankfully I know how to type too; that’s a lost skill I think. Knowing how to type makes this writing thing a bit quicker to do. There are blogs that may take me 5-10 minutes; there are others that may take me 20 minutes. If I need to do research, which isn’t that often, it may take me longer. Now only if I could exercise that much per day…

For the record, I am down about 13 pounds since the beginning of the year. I’m going to have to keep up with my son as he gets older, although right about now, we’re doing a lot of sitting on our asses. The weather really hasn’t broke either, which is good to keep everybody in, but bad when we’re looking for that back yard escape to play some catch. We’ll get there. For the time being, it’s Monster Jam on the Switch, and Roblox on his tablet… weekends only during the school year. We watch movies together, plenty of game show network, and play some other games/stuff as well. He’s another reason I do it. Like I’ve said in the past, maybe this will be something I can pass down to him, or at the very least, something he could look back on, since he is featured every so often. Or maybe he won’t give a crap… that’s OK too.

There have been anniversaries where I feel like stopping this; this is not one of them. I’m feeling pretty strong in this category right now. I still enjoy to write, I still love Chicago sports, and I still need my therapy/release; the only thing I think sometimes is expanding it to write more about other stuff, although who the heck will want to read that… although who the heck reads this right now anyways (love you guys)… although who the heck cares? This is my thing, and I’m going to do what the hell I want to do… haha. Onwards and upwards…
