April 29, 2020: Shocker

Not to be outdone with all of the Bulls moves going on during this time, the Blackhawks hit us with a shocker earlier this week. They fired President & CEO John McDonough. Wow; didn’t see that coming.

Usually there are rumblings, right? I mean, somebody knows something, and more than not, that something gets out on social media or a local radio station. Well, there was absolutely no indication to Hawks fans and the rest of the public about this coming. I guess in a way, that makes sense.

As I was driving into work the day after this happened, this was the topic being discussed on the Score radio station; it was a very interesting segment. Dan Bernstein, long time Score radio host, who has avoided all of the comings and goings at that station, talked about how McDonough ran things. He was crazy about every single detail of the Blackhawks organization. He made sure that every single thing was buttoned up the way he thought it should be. If it wasn’t, he let people know about it. You may call him a perfectionist; this is what made him great at his job, helping turn around the Blackhawks franchise from one of the worst to one of the best in his tenure… the talent on the ice kind of helped too… Anyways, he was very controlling; he made sure all the players wore suits, wore Blackhawks gear, and more importantly, knew what to and what not to say to the media. He made sure that the brand was pristine. Again, this is what made him so good at his job. Maybe this is why THIS news didn’t have any leaks? Following the M.O. of McDonough himself, this was kept very tight lipped by those in the know; I’m sure John knew it was coming.

At best, ice and pills viagra canada medication may keep it at bay but usually further treatment is required to address the wound.

On the flip side of his obsessions, was how this wore on folks that worked within the organization. Bernstein described how people felt like they were “walking on eggshells” around him; they were carefully watching every move they made, knowing that only perfection was acceptable. Tough to be perfect. Oh yeah, and there is the whole fact that the owner’s son is now in the mix in the front office; power struggle? Don’t have to be a genius to figure out who is going to win that battle in this case.

At the end of the day, just as with the Bulls changes, we hope that other changes follow. In the case of the Blackhawks, Coach Q was already sent packing; so be it. But what about Bowman? He gets a pass in all of this. Well, with McDonough being shown the door, will either Wirtz’ son, or whoever else will take this position get around to holding Bowman accountable? I think that’s what most of us want to see. It’s only fair, considering Coach Q was already a casualty… and now McDonough. If Bowman makes it through all of this, I won’t understand. It’s not the hate I felt for GarPax, but it only seems right. As for the Bulls changes, there’s more…
