August 1, 2021: Salty Sunday

posted in: Cubs, White Sox | 0

Yeah, timing is everything they say. Sunday was the date of a party for my brother in law. He turned 40 last year. Today was the cashing of that raincheck thanks to COVID. Where was this party? At a Sox game of course…

Look, I love baseball. Nobody compares to my Cubs, but baseball is the one sport where I will watch two other teams play, especially when you’re talking about being there in person. I have nothing against Sox park in general; it’s not Wrigley, but no place is. Of course, gathering with my family is always a good time, especially in this particular situation where we gathered in a suite at the ballpark; it was sweet… I want to say I watched one other game in a suite long, long time ago… I got to watch a Bears game in a suite. That’s it though. So this would be my 3rd time in my life; it was really, really nice. Yet, I’m still not well… the Cubs discarding of their core is still a fresh wound. Going to watch the Sox, the first place Sox… seeing Kimbrel pitch, and pitch well for them… seeing them walk it off in the bottom of the 9th, celebrating at home plate… it was a great time, don’t get me wrong, but it felt like more salt on the wound.

It can hamper the sexual life of a person and hence it is important to steer clear of things which induce stress in a person. pamelaannschoolofdance.com buy viagra To dilate penile vessels, Zenegra pill can tadalafil canada help, but only if enough arousal is present. I was surprised it was pretty crowded; cue the Sox attendance joke. Look, filling up 85% of the stadium on a Sunday, a beautiful, perfect day for a ball game, when your team is in first place is pretty good, no? Wrigley would be at 100%, but like I said, there is no place like Wrigley; there are no fans like Cubs fans. Most of the game was pretty low key. One run on each side until the bottom of the 9th finisher. My brother and I have been joking about sending Tepera and Kimbrel to the Sox… operation sabotage. Tepera did his part in his first appearance, but the Sox still pulled it out; Kimbrel must be waiting… he’s pitched a perfect two innings so far. I told one of the security guards at work, if the Sox do end up winning it all, they owe the Cubs a thank you card. With Jimenez, Cease, Tepera, and Kimbrel, we helped you… big time. As Kimbrel struck out the last batter he faced, and the Sox fans who once made fun of his pre-pitch stance cheered their asses off, I yelled out the suite window: You’re Welcome! You’re ALL Welcome!!!

Like I said, I’m still not well… seeing Rizzo, Baez, and Bryant all go deep in their first games in their new unis has certainly helped the situation. I do wish them well; I want them to do well. I now have a reason to root for the Yankees, Mets, and Giants, when normally the 27 titles, the 2015 NLCS, and the 1989 NLCS tell me otherwise. Considering the other options for World Series contenders this year, either of those three wouldn’t be the most horrible thing in the world. I know this: it won’t be the Cubs. The record playoff run of 5 out of the last 6 years, with that one missed year being a 163 game elimination, will come to an end in 2021. The Cubs missed the playoff 6 straight years before 2015; they missed the playoffs every year between 1945 and 1984… what kind of drought are we looking at here? Can’t wait to find out…
