When you were named to take over for Hoiberg, I was fine; in fact, I would have been fine if they named the Water Cooler as head coach… anybody but Hoiberg. As it turns out, the Bulls would have been better off giving Mr. Cooler a chance…
I wanted you to do well… I wished you well… I didn’t hate you from the jump… I wanted to give you a chance. This is all true. You weren’t that great at first impressions though, with the team threatening a mutiny after working them into the ground. Look, I don’t mind work; I already said I loved Thibs. Were the players being too soft? I didn’t know; I still held my judgment. One thing that pissed me off, and it wasn’t really even your fault, was that the Bulls signed you to an extension after your glorious 17-41 start to your coaching career; wtf?!?! Once GarPax were finally no more, and Artie came in, I just knew your days were numbered; there was no way in hell that this smart basketball mind would keep you, right? Well, changes were made… all good ones… the end result seemed inevitable, yet it’s almost like a “timeout” was called by AK. Maybe this was a teaching moment, done for you to gain some sort of experience, to better yourself, from this foregone conclusion. Does that sound familiar Jim? Do you see how stupid it was? Pissed me the hell off… But thankfully this timeout didn’t result in a loss for the Bulls, because relieving you of your duties is a huge win for the franchise.
I can’t say I’ll miss you, or your post-game interviews that were oh so educational. No, at this very moment, now, after this latest and greatest move… OK, breaking up GarPax was pretty cool too… but only now, do I have complete trust in Artie and in the future direction of this franchise, and that makes me very happy. It makes me very happy that we don’t have to deal with a coach that will slowly either ruin the young talent on this team or run them out of town. No… thankfully we can move forward freely, without our ankle weight; it will be amazing how much better we will play without it. How am I so sure? It’s because you were that bad Jimmy boy.
