August 19, 2023: Milestone Reaching

The NFL Preseason was in full mode this week, especially on Saturday with a full slate of games. We’re continuing to gather information on MLB games with over 500 records, trying to find some sweet spots. After a successful Friday, we reached a new milestone in my Draft Kings account; we’re up over $40, more than 10x where we were months ago. The grind is real.

I have a new sweet spot for MLB games; I hate to even mention it. It feels inevitable that every trend will turn in the long run; nothing will last forever. But… yeah, +120 road dogs have been very, very good lately; I’ve taken advantage of this more than any other trend thus far this MLB season. How long will it last? We’ll see… but I’m going to enjoy the ride while it lasts. The Mariners were in this spot on Saturday; the Marlins were there on Friday against the Dodgers and their winning streak. The Mets in St. Louis, the Phillies in Toronto earlier in the week. Ride that wave!!!

As far as the preseason, I was very proud of myself this week… and pissed at the same time. I was on the Browns ML in Philly on Thursday night; did you happen to see how that game ended? The Browns lined up for a go ahead FG with 2 minutes left, and missed it, but Papa Vegas tried to help. There was some BS penalty against the Eagles that allowed the Browns to try again, this time from 5 yards closer; he missed again. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap… the good thing, was that I got my original bet back, due to the tie game, since it was technically a push; I was happily surprised for that, figuring I’d get screwed since they didn’t win. There were 2 games on the Friday slate; I was all over the Bengals, and was thinking about the Giants. Everything pointed to a Giants victory, except the fact that the Panthers new head coach was looking for his first win, and that funny feeling I had. The G-Men were up huge in the first half; I was kicking myself of course. Yet by the end of the game, I was hugging myself, since the Panthers ended up covering the +3. Instead of putting money on New York, I doubled up on Cincy, points plus ML. I would have swept it if it weren’t for another last second FG that the Falcons made to tie… unreal… Still, a positive day left me over the $40 mark; yeah!

Saturday I loaded up for the biggest day in this year’s NFL preseason; maybe I bit off more than I could chew. All the stuff I read about these games seemed to run together, and probably lead me to play more than I should have. Well, at the end of the day, it ended up essentially a push; it wasn’t the hurdle over $50 that I expected, but… better than back under $40. The real season is almost here; I’ve recently read some very interesting stuff about NFL trends, that honestly, lines up to exactly how I like to play games. Can’t wait for the season to begin.

More baseball, one more week of meaningless football, and then we’re there. Was going to load up at Fan Duel to get some bonuses, but… maybe I’ll wait. I thought I’d have to do this, especially when I was sitting at $3, but… I was wrong. Oh yeah, and editor’s note: that whole “that’s the discipline” comment was actually said by Deniro to Pacino in my favorite Heat scene, not earlier to Kilmer which I had said. Either way, the discipline must remain, although I think it’s time to bump my units again? Good luck all!
