August 2, 2020: Extra Special

It was an extra special end to the weekend with the Cubs sweeping the Pirates. I know… it is the Pirates, but wins are wins, and in this extra special shortened season, need to stack them up sooner than later, early and often. The Cubs are now 7-2, tied for the most wins in baseball, and sitting in first place in the NL Central. Boo ya!

Sunday’s game brought the new extra special ending to an extra inning game. You know, when the offense starts the inning out with a runner on 2B, who is the guy that made the last out in the previous inning. Yes, this proved to be pretty exciting. The Pirates got the first crack and immediately singled to left, but the mighty Schwarbino threw the dude out at home, easily. In the Cubs first crack, Happ drew a walk, which put runners on 1st and 2nd; Nico tried to bunt them over, unsuccessfully, but both runners ended up stealing the bases anyways… so even though Nico struck out, we had 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Almora whiffed on the same pitch Nico did, and then Bote made the final out. The 11th had a putout at 3rd base, Baez to Bote, for the first out of the inning before getting the other 2 outs. Then the bottom of the 11th came. Rizzo hit a sac fly to right, sending Bote to 3rd base. There was a wild pitch that Bote was thinking about scoring on; thankfully, he made the right decision to stay at third. Baez took care of business lining a single to center; Cubs win, Cubs win, Cubs win!

I actually don’t mind the new extra inning rule. I know, it’s baseball, there are many traditions, and my initial thought on changes to the game is usually negative; isn’t that most people’s reaction to change? I’m like, leave the game alone, I love it as it is… for those folks that can’t focus for 3 hours, I’m sorry. I do love baseball as it is, but after seeing this change, that I wasn’t a fan of originally, I kind of like it. It forces the action. Sure, is a 16 inning late night marathon fun? Heck yeah, but this is kind of fun too; I wonder if I would feel the same if the Cubs lost. The one thing I would say, and I’m not sure if this is how it is, but for the playoffs, this rule should NOT apply. It’s fine for the regular season, like the penalty shot in hockey, but for the postseason, no way. If that’s how it is, then I’m good with it.

However, there are several things in life it is all super cialis professional about the basics. Figuring out what is causing the issue ought to be taken with obligation. buy generic levitra When and anger condition is severe, then a professional low price levitra is often needed and there are many anger management programs available to enroll the child in. And how about that National League DH? Honestly, I’ve barely noticed. Sure, it makes managing a whole lot easier, less strategy, etc, but… on the flip side, there is a whole different type of strategy. So although I would prefer the pitchers hitting like always, the new DH in the National League has been just fine with me as well.

Maybe it’s because we almost didn’t have baseball this year, and if these jerks like the Marlins and Cardinals keep partying, this season may still be in jeopardy. But to finally see baseball is so satisfying (it helps that the Cubs are winning, surely), that I don’t care about the changes. I’m good with it. I’m also good with the Cubs being in first place. Let’s keep it rolling! Go Cubs!
