December 19, 2023: The Semifinals

posted in: Bears | 2

OK, this may be my last Fantasy Football post of the year… or maybe I’ll have a couple more. It’s the semifinals for Fantasy Football playoffs this week. In 2 of my 3 leagues, I am a participant. Let’s start with the family league.

I’m facing off against my brother and niece on one side of the bracket, while on the other side, my son faces off against my brother in law and nephew. Yes, this is the exact definition of “family league”. When we get together for Christmas this weekend, I’m sure there’ll be a lot of trash being talked; hopefully both matchups are close… or not. In our 3rd year of this league, I’m looking for my 2nd title. The first year I lucked out. I had a huge game from Ja’Marr Chase, but still needed the Steelers to NOT throw to Diontae Johnson for the entire 2nd half… and they obliged!!! I pulled one out of my ass, but hey… this kind of stuff happens in fantasy. One of my other winners was due to Kamara’s 6 TDs, and I still needed a late INT from my opponent to pull it out. Of course, I’ve been on the other side of it… when Romo got hurt in the first series and completely screwed me. What will the end of this fantasy season hold? Funny thing… in my matchup, I’m projected 145.76; my brother and niece… 145.22. Yes, it’s that close. This should be fun.

Although I’d love to get bragging rights in my family league, I definitely wouldn’t mind pocketing some money in my auction league. Feeling really good about my team right now. Josh Allen at QB feels great. AJ Brown, Deebo, and Courtland Sutton (finally after how many years…) are my WRs. Kamara and Pollard are my RBs. The rest of my team is where it gets interesting. At tight end, I think I’m rolling with Likely again; he did well for me last week, and since my other TE is Freirmuth… I’m trying to stay away from anything Pittsburgh right now, plus he’s questionable. Maybe this is an easy call. For my flex though… Warren has been my guy, but back to the Steelers thing… think he’s riding the pine in this one. That brings me to 2 Robinsons… the Giants guy vs the Rams guy; I’m leaning Giants. I know, kind of crazy, but… the Saints are a tough matchup for the Rams, while the Eagles and their new DC should allow for some chances for the Giants. He’s never been in my lineup, so what better time to use him than in a must-win situation… I just picked up a new kicker and defense. Matt Gay kicking indoors in Atlanta for the Colts, and the Jets defense at home against the Commanders… let’s roll!

If you’re still alive, good luck to you. For one of my faithful readers… hope to see you in the finals!
