December 23, 2019: Takes An Army

On this 11th day of Christmas, we think about a famous 11, or in this case, an infamous group. We talked about Mitch, but it takes an army to really tank the way the Bears did offensively this year. We can’t put this all on Mitch, can we?

If I think about the offense, one of the first guys that comes to mind is Trey Burton. What the heck happened there? Here comes this “big time” free agent, Super Bowl winning Tight End. What happened last year in the playoffs again when he didn’t play? I’m sure it was a legit reason. Then this year… he couldn’t even stay on the field. Just another snakebitten Chicago athlete? But we had a backup plan at that position, no? I mean, with another one of those “WTFs” in the draft, Adam Shaheen was supposed to be this crazy pick that hit jackpot for Pace. Not sure if the name of that jackpot was “Rock Bottom”, but that’s the only thing Shaheen hit this year. My God did we have nobody at tight end this year.

It’s a part of the other sub-unit on this offense, the offensive line. Wow, I guess I expected a lot more from them this year. Being basically together another whole year, great OL coach, another year in the offense, man… these guys were going to rock. We know that winning the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball is a HUGE plus. It didn’t happen. Are we blaming Mitch for the times, and there were multiple, when guys came straight in on him? Yeah, Mitch should have audibled out. There really weren’t that many times… There was one thing I heard earlier this year that resonates with me after the fact. The Bears OL is one of the lowest paid units in the NFL; you get what you pay for?

Ah, the RBs… did they suffer because of the OL play? I really liked what I thought I saw from David Montgomery; what did we see? You heard about this guy that put up all these yards in college without an OL; guess it doesn’t work that way in the NFL? Or was it just rookie adjustment time for Montgomery? Then there’s Cohen… love the points in my PPR fantasy league, but it would be nice to get more than 1-2 yards per reception. Running straight sideways seems to be his best move. And yeah, not saying he could have made a difference, but I did not like the Jordan Howard trade at the time. It just seemed like a cocky move from the guys who thought they had it together. Welp…

This makes way for many problems that are fewer sex drives, erectile problems generic cialis Discover More etc. The sperm count may reduce and the cialis prescription cost fertility level as well. In some buy viagra prescription cases generic drugs offer greater benefits compared to branded ones. Taking generic tadalafil online or any other drug on your own to address the symptoms in the short term.

One guy I didn’t talk about was Allen Robinson; well I guess I just did. He was great, not perfect, but our best player by far on the offensive side of the ball. The other WRs… meh.

So there… that’s the entire offense we’re talking about basically, and I’m not even talking about Nagy’s play calling. Again, not ready to hang the guy for it, but certainly thought he could have done a better job in that department. Was it the talent of guys he is working with, especially at the QB position, that hindered this? The debate can continue…

As we “look forward” to the end of the season on Sunday, it’s time to reflect on what went wrong, and how this will not go wrong again next year. Maybe it’s too early for that… maybe I’m still in the Christmas spirit… On the 11th day of Christmas, Santa brought to us, an atrocious offensive year…
