December 25, 2019: Merry Merry

I love Christmas music; my whole family does. Because of that, we’ve been listening to Christmas music for about 6 weeks now. Six weeks of non-stop Christmas music, and then at 12:01 on December 26th, that’s it? Nah, I’m not buying that; I’ll still be listening for a bit…

As I was saying, I’m most thankful for what I have around Christmas; I try not to under appreciate that for a single moment. Maybe there are those moments when I do take it for granted… maybe a few, but for the most part, I think I’m pretty much in step with it. Christmas is here; merry merry…

Thankful we don’t have to watch the Bulls embarrass us with a shitty Christmas Day performance. I didn’t watch any of the NBA action, but I did catch the highlights of the end of the Lakers Clippers game. It was as if Santa delivered one more gift under our tree… Seeing Lebron get blocked like that, in the clutch, by a guy half a foot shorter than him, from Chicago I might add, and then seeing Lebron say he re-injured himself earlier in the game, adding another excuse to his impressive portfolio of excuses; Felix Navidad!

Thankful that this Bears season is almost over; what a kick in the ass this season has been. I mean, I couldn’t even watch the Bears Chiefs game on Sunday night. I turned it off at the half… sure, it didn’t help that I just lost my fantasy football championship when Kelce caught a few balls against the Bears defense late in the 2nd quarter, but the Bears looked like crap… again. I didn’t want to get myself pissed; I didn’t want to torture myself. I finally just said no, and turned the game off at the half. Not sure if you can understand that, or how rare that actually is to happen with me and a Bears game, but I’m there man… Yeah, I’ll tune into the final game… I’ll try to watch it.

Yeah, no sense in having the Bulls or Bears damper the Christmas spirit. Thankfully the Blackhawks didn’t play and lose another winter classic either. That’s all we need. And while the Sox continue to improve their team for next year, the Cubs stay quiet. I did get a funny text the other day though… a buddy of mine giving me shit for the Cubs offseason. I asked him, “you a Sox fan? Didn’t know”; he replied “only when they’re doing better than the Cubs”. I replied “Doing better than the Cubs? In what, offseason acquisitions? Haha”. People getting crazy around here… too much Egg Nog.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas.
