December 4, 2020: Week 13 Lions at Bears

posted in: Bears | 0

At this point, I don’t have faith that the Bears can beat anybody, even if it is the shitty ass Lions, even if their coach just got canned, even if Trubisky plays well against them, even if it is in Soldier Field; sorry, I just don’t. You look at the line of Bears -3 and think you’ll be OK; be careful.

The Lions suck, but what makes them so different than us right now. Sure, I’ll still take our defense over most teams, but it’s not 100%. No Goldman all year. Hicks will probably still be out. Mack sat out this week. I don’t know. Will they play inspired after looking bad on Sunday night? Maybe. Will it matter? Speaking about playing inspired. Maybe the Lions will come out and play great after their pillsbury dough boy of a coach got canned this week. Maybe they’ll just get back to the basics of what they do well, especially on offense. If their top WR is back, watch out. Although as usual, the opponent’s offense against our defense is typically not the reason we lose a game.

Yes, it’s our offense at the center of things again. Nagy was quick to announce our starting QB this week; duh. Who else would it be? From the current roster, Trubisky gives us the best chance to win… and now you have a big clue to why we haven’t been winning. Foles, Trubisky… it doesn’t really matter. The offensive line is the same, even if they played a bit better vs Green Bay per some stuff I’ve seen. I’m sorry… at this point, it just feels like we’re playing out the string. Even if our defense, which is good, puts the team on their back again and gives it a go, which they very well may do, how many points do they have to hold the Lions’ offense to? Fact of the matter is Stafford, as much maligned as he may be, is better than most of the QBs in our franchise history. Even without his top weapon, the Lions should be able to muster up a score or two; OK, let’s say 17 points they score. Not a bad day for the defense right? Right. Except in our 6 losses this year, the Bears have scored more than 17 points only twice, and last week was a joke because it was pure garbage time. So, how confident do we feel that the Bears will score more than 17 points on Sunday? I wonder if there is some type of bet out there for this…

Yeah, it’s like that. Another hint that your team is in trouble is when one of your kickers is the MVP of the game. Remember all those years when our punter Brad Maynard felt like the MVP? Yeah, down years buddy. Yeah, we had 2018, that was fun… and now, it’s over… it’s been over. Last year followed up by this year… change should be coming. But I’ll still be watching, you know me, a glutton for punishment, but you know what? There’s only one team I’ll ever root for, well, besides whoever is playing the Packers, yes, Da Bears. Die hard baby… dying slowly each game this year…
