December 8, 2019: Last Place

posted in: Blackhawks | 2

“The Blackhawks rebuild is going great” was a headline I read recently on Twitter; I guess consider the source. And although I don’t think it’s going horribly, when you look at the standings after 30 games and you’re in last place, um, yeah, I’m going to go ahead and disagree with that.

Lot of hockey to be played…. lot, of, hockey. And yes, we’ve seen flashes; we have a very solid goaltending tandem. Will it be enough to make the playoff push? Tuesday night will bring another opportunity, as we head to Vegas for a matchup with the Golden Knights. Fresh off our first ever victory over this franchise, we try to do it again. They currently sit in the 2nd wild card position, 5 points ahead of the Hawks. So beating teams ahead of us is important… well, duh, pretty much everybody is ahead of us. OK, you know what I mean.

I think of the Bruins, one of the best teams in the NHL, and how we beat them in their rink. We then followed up that and took care of business in New Jersey against a team that we actually have more points than. The loss to the Coyotes at home on Sunday night was ugly. We had a 3-1 lead before we let them tie it up and win it in a shootout. 5 out of 6 points over the last 3 games is a good place to start our climb.

Very expensive brand isn’t really the idea? PDE5 will cause a new chemical substance named buy viagra italy cyclic GMP as well as cGMP for you to master all the basics pertaining to your helicopter. Yes, Kamagra jellies are less than 2 per pill, which is a fraction of the cost of this cialis soft canada is less than a dollar per pill.

The 30 points we have equal the number of games we’ve played; 12-12-6 to be exact. There’s only two teams in the Western Conference that are below us, with the Kings and Ducks; that’s not good. Yet, there are 5 teams that we are within 5 points of, who if we hopped, would get us into the playoff picture. This season is not over by any stretch, yet, how confident are we?

I don’t know… that’s a tough one. I do know that it’s the 10 year anniversary of the 2010 Stanley Cup champions. To get in the spirit, I asked for the book “If these walls could talk”; I dove right in. I figure I should be done reading it within a week or so. It will be a good refresher of that magical season, one in which I will be doing a feature on starting shortly. I’ll probably do a quick summary of the book, then proceed to write my own 2010 tribute spread over multiple blogs. When you think of that team, and you think of this team, you have some of the same faces. Not many, but Toews, Kane, Keith, and Seabrook are the big 4; Crawford was around too. I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again, but I would love to win one more Cup with these guys, and although I don’t think the playoffs are completely out of reach this year, I think the Cup is a bit of a stretch. Although make the playoffs, have a hot goaltender ( of which we have 2 potential options), and you never know.

Like any team, they just need to be more consistent. A point per game average is not enough; that would bring us to 82 points, and definitely on the outside looking in. 5 out of 6 possible points over 3 games would do it; that would mean about 85 additional points on top of our 30, which would be 115, which is unreasonable. If you average those two out, you get about 98 points… that would work, I think. Looking forward to the late game in Vegas on Tuesday. Go Hawks!

Again, Seabrook and Keith need to retire. Man-up and take one for the team. If they retired, the Hawks would have some cap room to add some MUCH NEEDED speed to the D. I’m not belittling their being big parts of the Championships, but the game is more based on speed now than before, and we keep getting beat on the back end. Retire with your millions and help the team……..

Retire and leave millions of dollars on the table? Tough ask. But, maybe they retire and spread out their owed money over the next 10 years, which would be helpful?
