I can’t stop talking about this Super Bowl… maybe I’m going to burn myself out. It’s not until NEXT Sunday… and I’m not even a fan of either team! I think I am so excited about this game because I’m feeling very confident about betting on one of these teams. I already mentioned it; we’re rolling with the Niners.
As I continue to think about this game, the whole Taylor Swift thing comes up. We’re talking about her helicoptering in, performing at halftime with Usher, the Chiefs winning, Kelce retiring, and Kelce proposing to her all in one fell swoop next Sunday. Whew, that’s a lot… oh yeah, and then, we’re going to Disneyworld… I could see it now. The perfect day for the lovebirds and all of the Swifties out there. It’s all a bit scary… Although some of this may happen, I don’t think the Chiefs winning is a prerequisite to this angle. Sure, did the NFL want the Chiefs with their new #1 fan and all of her millions and millions of fans in the Super Bowl? It doesn’t hurt, that’s for sure. If the NFL wanted millions of more eyeballs on this Super Bowl, they got it. But, there isn’t a next game… this is it. They’ve already locked up the Swifties for this game; what do they care about what’s next? Maybe they’d prefer keeping them on the hook, and keeping this storybook love affair going for another year? Not sure how deep you want to read into this whole Taylor Swift angle, but the eyeballs are already there; the Chiefs aren’t going to win the game because of her… not any more at least.
Digging into some of the Xs and Os, let’s talk about the KC DL injuries. Dude tore his ACL last week vs Baltimore; he’s out. They were already missing a defensive lineman. That’s 2 injuries to the DL for KC; that’s big. The defense, which unlike most believe, are the main reason the Chiefs are in this game. Sure, Reid, Mahomes… scary business, especially with an extra week to prepare; Reid is almost a slam dunk. Not saying that he won’t have the Chiefs ready; he will. Mahomes and Kelce will get theirs, right? Well, the SF LBs match up pretty well with Travis. So that leaves? Rashee Rice? OK. Toney? What’s his story? You trusting MSV? The KC WRs have been their downfall all year; if Mahomes needs to rely on them in this one, how’s that going to turn out? If I were the Chiefs, hand off to Pacheco as much as possible. I would have the same advice for the Niners. CMC and more coming out of the backfield I think would be smart. You run to setup the pass. Don’t put it all on Purdy’s shoulders. Sure, he deserves a lot of credit, but there is no need to put the entire game plan on his shoulders. If the Chiefs, who are vulnerable against the run, something the Ravens didn’t know I guess, start to cheat against the run, now turn Brock loose. Take your pick. SF does not have the same WR problem. Deebo and Aiyuk… money. Furthermore, although Kittle isn’t Kelce, he certainly isn’t no slouch. And maybe, just maybe, he wants to prove that against the best TE in the league on the other side of the field?
OK, let me take a break from the big game. 5 units already on Frisco… watching the line… most likely, will add more prior to gametime. How much more? Well, can’t get too crazy here; I could be wrong you know… haha. We’ll circle back to this game in a few. Maybe get into some of the props? OK, let’s just calm down… we have all next week to go! Patiently waiting.
