Well, I said I wanted snow… I just got inside from my 3rd time shoveling today; this last time was especially brutal. There just isn’t anywhere to put the damn snow. All that snow from the last round a couple weeks ago is still there; it’s been so cold that nothing has melted. And now we get dumped on with another foot? Yeah, it’s a good workout, no doubt, but I think how it would be to have a snow blower… I do love to shovel, believe it or not. It’s therapeutic to me; I have a lot of my little “therapies”, including what you’re reading right now. But holy crap… there’s a lot of fricking snow out there.

My son’s school has already been cancelled for tomorrow. If I wasn’t coming back from being off a couple days at work, and it if wasn’t for the fact that I’m going to have to report on weather conditions in both Chicago and Dallas, I’d stay home too. Yeah, I’ll probably be making my way downtown early in the morning; it won’t be pretty. I think the Metra may be the best choice, but how much can you really count on them in this type of weather? I know the “el” always runs; it’s a bit more of a walk, but may be worth it. My car, which is sitting in front of our house, is dead… won’t start. We picked up a new battery today; I’ll probably swap it out in the next day or two. Don’t want my wife and son to take me; roads will probably be like shit, although Chicago knows how to deal with the snow… I’m sure the main roads will be just fine. What the hell was I going to talk about… oh yeah…

The Bulls won in OT; the Hawks won it OT… pretty damn good night across the board for the boys. We had gone upstairs to read before my son went to bed; we all took turns. As my son laid down, the Bulls game just went to OT; we “watched” OT on ESPN gamecast… my son likes to watch it that way. We saw the Bulls get the W; now what about the Blackhawks? The Wings had just tied it in the 3rd period. I asked if he wanted to watch the end of it; he did. So for the first time, we snuck downstairs to watch the end of a game. It had a good ending, as the Hawks survived the end of the 3rd period, before going to OT, where they have been money lately. The last 4 of their wins has been in OT. This time it was Kubalik with the game winner. OK, back to bed… I got to get back outside to shovel.

A quick look at the standings before I shut my eyes. Although the Bulls are still 4 games under 500, they’re only a half game out of the 8th seed in the East; with Wendell back in the lineup for the first time in a while, I’m sticking with my guns about the Bulls making the playoffs this year. And the Blackhawks… only 1 point behind first place Tampa Bay?!?! OK, I’m not saying a damn thing, but this: they are fun to watch right now. All right… that’s it… time to relax… I’ll have to be back out there shoveling in about 6 hours… Good night.
