February 20, 2020: Stress Free

Wouldn’t that be nice? No stress… I feel like I don’t stress out about much, or maybe it’s just that I suppress it all. Maybe one day I’ll have a Me, Myself, & Irene moment. Hopefully not. But in regards to this blog, the stress I’m referring to is what has come with every floor hockey game this season. With a 3-1 record heading into Wednesday night’s game, the stress in each of the first 4 close games was worth it, because we won 3 out of 4. Winning makes it all worth it, right?

Winning is fun too. We haven’t been used to that, with 2 wins during the entire baseball and basketball season. Game 5 would bring a different challenge. We beat this team the first time around 5-1, but that score is misleading. It was 0-0 heading to the 3rd period; definitely can’t take them for granted. And this time around, we would be down a kid. Only 5 kids, 1 of them a goalie, would be relied upon to get the job done in this one. The other team was nice enough to ask if they should only run 5 kids out there; I told them no… use your full lineup. It’s not their fault that we were down a kid. We would have to overcome it.

What initially appeared to be a disadvantage for us, turned into an advantage. With only 4 kids on the floor, we were allowed to have 2 centers… 2 kids that could run the entire floor net to net. 1 kid would stay on offense, and 1 would stay on defense. As long as we didn’t have more than 3 kids per side, we were OK. So, both my 9 year olds were at center; they loved it. The one kid on defense, my son, loved that he was “in charge” on the defensive side. The kid on offense played on of his best games, absolutely scrapping over every puck on the offensive side. It all added up to a 5 goal first period; now you know what I mean when I said stress free. The game was essentially over at that time.

With purchasing this levitra without prescription passing time season keeps changing and with changed season we do suffer from cold, fever and FLU. Who goes to a urologist? The only question would be if either one or both of the two 9 year olds, both of whom had 2 goals in the first period, would get a hat trick. I moved one of them to defense in the 2nd… he still got his hat trick +1. He ended the day with 4 goals. In the 3rd, I moved the other 9 year old to defense; I told him he could still get it; he did. Two hat tricks and a 9-1 final moved our record to 4-1. My son got in on the action as well, tallying his 2nd goal of the season.

It gets tougher from here. Saturday we will play the team that beat us the first time around; there’s the motivation factor. I know we’ll play better this time around; will that mean a victory? We’ll see. The following week we will play the first place, undefeated team; due to a scheduling quirk, we will play both regular season games against them back to back to end the season. No motivation required there. If they don’t lose until then, we’ll need to beat them twice for first place. More importantly though, will be seeing how we stack up to them, with the playoffs in mind.

It was nice to get have a stress free evening, but I know that will not be the case from here on out… and that’s OK. I look forward to each and every game. Go Sharks!
