February 23, 2020: Our Nemesis

Saturday brought a floor hockey rematch with the team that beat us the first time around. How would we fare this time?

We came out hot… and a bit lucky. We started our least talented goalie in the 1st period. Their first shot hit off his pad and stopped just short of the goal line. The next one trickled past him; he sat on it just before it went in. The next one was past him off the post. It’s better to be lucky than good sometimes. Meanwhile, we capitalized on our early opportunities, scoring the first two goals of the game; the lead would be short lived. By the end of the period, our luck in goalie had run out, and the score was tied 2-2. The defense wasn’t as good as it usually is either. We gave them way too much time with the puck in our end… not pressuring them, electing to sit back and try to stop/block shots. This would be a problem for us throughout the game.

The second period began the back and forth. They went up 3-2; we tied it. They went up 4-3; we tied it early in the third period. They went up 5-4… then they went up 6-4… then it was over. It was an outstanding game that didn’t go our way. We played much better than the first time around, but so did they. Our nemesis has now handed us both of our losses this season. Will we meet again?

So, why is there a levitra properien controversy? Well, there is a public perception that homeopathy is the same thing as holistic healing or faith-based medicine.

Not going to focus on that quite yet. Next week brings back to back match-ups with the undefeated first place team. Again, due to a scheduling quirk, we haven’t played them yet. This is how the regular season will end. At 4-2, worst case is 500; best case is tied for first place at 6-2 and referring to the goals scored to provide the tiebreaker. It won’t be easy.

Thankfully, we’ll have one of our best players back; he’s been away for almost 2 weeks. He should help shore up the goal tending and help overall with the depth/substitutions/versatility. Our goal tending is of some concern to me. We do not have the shutdown goalie. We rely on our defense to play really good, which thankfully, hasn’t been an issue most games. Going up against the best team in the league record wise will be a good gauge heading into the playoffs. Are we up there, or are we just in the middle of the pack?

Saturday’s game was played with playoff intensity. The kids were not happy after the loss. I told them that was OK… dealing with the older kids, finally seeing kids who care about the result of the game… other than my son of course, who has been concerned about that since his first league when he was 5. I told them this is how the rest of the games are going to be this season… tough, close… we need to play our best… we need to leave it all out there. They were exhausted after the game; so was I, and I was just coaching. It’s been a very fun year thus far, hoping for a happy ending. Go Sharks!
