January 2, 2021: Week 17 Preview Packers at Bears

posted in: Bears | 0

Speaking about that promise… welcome to Week 17 of the 2020-2021 NFL Season. It’s been an exhausting year, in general, and the Bears made sure they were part of this theme. Coming into the season, there were mixed feelings; of course I felt positive about it. The Bears went 5-1 to start the season; I was right! Then they lost 6 in a row. In the midst of this streak I had tapped out emotionally… I couldn’t get more upset. I really started to believe that the Bears wouldn’t win another game. Then they won 3 in a row. It took the entire 3 game winning streak to get me amped up again. Yes, the hope is back… just in time to face the Packers with our season on the line. I don’t need any more reasons to hate them…

So you’re saying there’s a chance? Why not? The Bears have been playing a lot better, but the Packers have owned us for the most part. This rivalry has been one sided the wrong way for decades. I miss when it was one sided the right way, when I was a kid. Yet, I remember a pretty big victory over the Packers at Soldier Field with the same QB and same coach back only 2 years ago, in 2018. That was a memorable one. The Bears have everything on the line here; we can’t rely on a backup QB for the Rams to beat the Cardinals. Sure, I’ll take it, but the fact is we own our destiny. Win and get in. The Packers are playing for homefield advantage; this is important but not as important. I’m sure A-ron and the Pack will not let up in the least bit. Good! If we think we’re back, if we think we have a chance to make some noise, then get there; beat the cheeseheads, punch your ticket through them. If we’re feeling confident, then this is what we want; we got it.

The Packers are down arguably the best “holder” in the league. Yes, that one offensive lineman who is always holding, but it never gets called, because half the games are in Lambeau, and they are more biased for the home team there than any other venue in the NFL. It was on display last week against the Titans. At this point, I just chuckle about it. I mean, if the NFL allows this to go on, obviously, and doesn’t care to do anything about it, you just have to work through it. It sucks, but until the NFL changes their Packer agenda, and oh yeah, the Rodgers protection program, it’s twice as hard to beat these assholes… at least it feels that way. Thankfully this one is in Soldier Field; come on boys!

Yeah, so what. This is the biggest Bears game in 2 years. I’m happy that this game has this much meaning; it’s exciting to start a game with so much on the line. That could turn quickly… All I can ask is that we play our asses off; if we lose, then fine… as long as we left it all out there. If the Bears bring their A game, they can win, right? If it’s against the Packers A game? Screw it! Yes, on BOTH counts. Let’s do this. Let’s kick off 2021 the right way. Bear Down!!!
