We’re back with another Hate File; the last one was a doozy. I thought for sure the next time I would write one of these it would be for a certain ex-Chicago coach; not sure what we’re waiting for there. In the meantime, I have to squeeze another one out.
This one is dedicated to one of my biggest pet peeves. It’s not like I’ve never done it. I didn’t growing up; my parents wouldn’t allow it. As I got older, and introduced to alcohol, what can I say… we do stupid stuff. Yet, this was still something pretty rare, and if/when I did do it, it was bottles and cans, you know, stuff that somebody else could pick up and cash in on… at least that was my drunk rationalization. There is no way I’m doing this today, and damn sure my son won’t; my wife is all in on this one too. Yeah, today is a little bit of hate for all the litterers out there; hate them.
Is it just being lazy? How do you throw shit on the ground when you have a garbage can within 20 feet? Simply get your fat ass up, and walk the trash over to the garbage. But no… Worse than that may be people who throw stuff out the window. I’ve seen it all; I’m talking like fast food bags full of trash just thrown out of a moving vehicle. One day, like that one commercial, I would love to pickup the trash that somebody throws out, walk up to their car, and throw it right back in there, in their face. F-ing slobs.
Even worse than that is seeing little kids do this. Most of the stuff kids do, especially at a young age, is on the parents. If they see you do something, they will follow suit. If you see them do something and don’t tell them it’s wrong, they will think it’s OK. Seeing kids throw empty bags of chips or empty soda bottles on the floor, while one of their parents is walking right with them; that’s the pits. Take care of your shit, and don’t mess it up for everybody else. There is absolutely no reason to throw trash on the ground; if you have one, let me know. It would seem like one of those no brainers that everybody can get behind, but… there are always people who are missing that part of their brain.
Just don’t do it. Take the extra minute; walk those 100 steps, if that. Try to keep stuff clean instead of adding more trash to it. On the flip side of it all, at least the pandemic hasn’t slowed down the littering. We can hang our hat on that… whatever. Maybe if people were a little bit cleaner, we wouldn’t have such a pandemic on our hands? Too late for that, but it’s never too late to stop littering. Stop. Now. Don’t do it.
