OK. I couldn’t wait any longer to take a week off of work. With the whole COVID still going strong, and vacation plans stuck in neutral, I didn’t care; needed to get out of the matrix for a minute… needed to unplug. Not planning on checking any emails all week.
So now what? Week off of work in the summer always equals a trip. We’d be on a plane, most likely heading west to either Vegas or California. Or, we’d be on our way to watch the Cubs on one of their road trips. Or, we’d be hitting up an amusement park, water park, etc… Yeah, pretty much all of that is out the window for 2020; thanks COVID. Thought we’d be able to squeeze in a little road trip… even that looks bleak. OK, still, there is plenty to do staying local, trying to avoid crowds, trying to not gather indoors… right?
Yes! Miniature golf baby; I love mini golf. Plenty of good courses to choose from in the Chicago area, although it really doesn’t have to be a “good” course; anyone will do. Growing up, we would hit our share. One of the original ones that is still around is Haunted Trails on 79th & Harlem; love that place. Would hit the batting cages too, plus the arcade. This was even a destination later on when I got older to “hook up”. This is where I ran into Larry from Three’s Company. Haha… no shortage of memories there; will it make the cut this week? It’s possible.

Well, it’s here to stay for now, and we’ll figure it out. Mini golf will definitely be front and center on the agenda for the week; maybe find another outdoor trail to walk/hike. Maybe take a bike ride with the family. Enjoy some outdoor dining? Spend some time with the cousins? Sure, it’s all part of the staycation 2020 baby! And that’s all good. At the very least, it will save us some dough. At most, it will be more quality time together, which regardless of where it’s at, regardless if most of this time has been spent inside our house this year, is still always welcomed. Plus, I won’t be at work… so there’s that. Hoping this week goes by as slow as this year has been going so far…
