July 16, 2023: Weekly Check

I looked back, and yeah, it’s been about a week since I last talked about sports betting; I think I will make this a regular feature, a weekly check on the world of sports betting, and more specifically, my Draft Kings account. Maybe I’ll even get to the point of posting my plays/record; we’ll see.

Last time I went here, I was looking for a pattern, a system, to make bets on baseball. I really do think that’s the way to go. Build something with some rules, track the odds, follow the betting percentages, and find a trend that will make you some money. Although I’m a grizzled veteran when it comes to sports betting, for this most current run at it, via Draft Kings, I’m still in the infancy stages. Sure, when I got the bonus bets, I was throwing $25 on a game; it worked out well; I got my initial investment back and pocketed $250 profit. Then it was time to grind. As my balance dipped, I bet smaller and smaller; my balance went to an all-time low of $3. I still grinded; I didn’t want to put more money in. Let me turn this $3 into something. In this process, my wagers remained low; my balance went up and down, and as of end of day Sunday, sat at $16.90. I think this is progress???

I think… through this past, I don’t know, 2 months, I’ve been working my way slowly up. Sure, $16.90 isn’t much, but compared to $3, it’s a 563% increase. Plug in higher dollar amounts, and… you get what I’m saying. I’m still nowhere near that, the high dollar amounts that is, but… I am making progress on finding a system. I’m tracking baseball pretty closely. This “system” took me on a wild ride this past weekend. Friday night was a good night, up approx. 2 units. Saturday was a BAD day… down like 5 units. Sunday was a very good day, up like 4 units. Morale of the story: I was up for the weekend. Again, low dollar amounts, but… nevertheless, up! So we press on…

I find myself asking if this is worth it; sure sounds like a pipe dream to me at times… trying to make real money on sports gambling. Who does that anyways? Vegas wasn’t built on winners, but, but, I’m sure there are a handful of people who make some dough doing this, no? You see the big winners from time to time show up, hitting a big ticket, which would be great btw, but how about the career sports gambler? This used to be one of my “dream” careers, along with professional poker player, taxi cab driver, blackjack dealer; I know, big dreams I have… haha. Doing something along the lines of Pawn Stars and Storage Wars always attracted me as well. What am I even doing?

Well, for now, we crawl ahead; I have plenty of things to keep me busy, like my real job for one, and of course, my family, but… in between days, I grind… I keep it cool… I learn… Maybe this turns out to be nothing; maybe it turns out to be something… kind of like this blog… but I enjoy it; it is, let’s just say, a passion of mine. It’s hard to follow passions/pipe dreams when there’s real life… OK, enough for now. There is a fresh week of baseball games ahead. May the trend be with me…
