June 17, 2020: An Easy Subject

Well, it happened again; I’ve fallen behind on my daily blogs. Hey, there isn’t any live sports; I can certainly use that as an excuse. That’s not really it. There is always some crap I can bang out about 500 words about. I just finished writing three about food for God’s sake; that’s an easy subject. I’m looking for another one of those to get me current.

They’ve been showing the 2015 Blackhawks playoff run; they had already shown 2010. Did I miss 2013, or maybe they haven’t shown it yet. I can certainly watch those, talk about those games. The other week it was all Derrick Rose games on NBC Sports Chicago. I’ve really been contemplating my feelings about Rose; watching those games really brings me back to what should have been the second Bulls championship team in history. My son asks me why I wrote a Hate File about Derrick; yes, I did read most of those to my son, and yes, I did write one about Rose after he said New York has shown him more love than Chicago. Being season ticket holders, going to a ton of games during that time, I could certainly go to that well. They have been showing older NFL games, but none of them have included the Bears; I can’t blame them. They’re showing more recent games; besides 2018, no real reason to re-watch any recent Bears games. Now if they went back in the day, yeah; even if they went back to that 2nd Super Bowl team… some classics from those days. The NFL hasn’t really been impacted by all this crap thus far; I wouldn’t be talking that much football right now anyways. That brings us to baseball, the sport I’m missing the most. Plenty of Sox games on NBC Sports Chicago; ain’t watching any of those. Unfortunately, Xfinity and Marquee don’t have an agreement, so I can’t watch any old Cubs stuff. I did record the Sosa McGwire thing; I can certainly talk about that once I watch it. Decisions, decisions…

Or… maybe I write a few about another topic. It’s not really related to sports, although I could definitely tie it together at times. It’s a subject, a city that has unlimited stories; lots of stories that I may not be able to remember clearly… separate trips that may run together. It’s a place where my grandparents lived back in the day, and where my father in law lives today. It’s a destination that I have visited at least 25-30 times. Problem is, the stories that happen there are supposed to stay there. That’s right… Vegas baby! Yeah, I think I can string a couple together and keep the information that shouldn’t be shared to myself, well most of it. What fun would it be if I didn’t share any of it?

OK, it’s set then. Let’s take a trip to the 702. Let’s take that 3.5 hour plane ride from Chicago… or that 3.5 hour drive from LA… or that 24 hour drive from Chicago? Whatever… let’s get there already; it’s always exciting starting that Vegas trip…
