June 20, 2014: Shut Up

posted in: Bulls | 2

Not sure if this becomes a new feature, but I have to let this out.  I read an article yesterday that got me fired up.  A so called “basketball expert” made the statement that Carmelo should definitely not come to Chicago.  “If I’m Melo”… well you’re not, you’re just another idiot with a microphone, and for that, I have to tell you Shut Up Chris Webber.

What happened to you?  I was a fan of the Fab Five, but that didn’t turn out so well did it.  If I was Chris Webber, I wouldn’t have called a timeout at the end of the NCAA Championship game when my team had no timeouts left.  So, we all know from history how smart you are.  You’re NBA career was OK.  Again, you had a nice dunk over Barkley as a Golden State Warrior, and I rooted for you as a member of the Sacramento Kings when you played against the Lakers, but how did that turn out?  Exactly, you haven’t won anything, period.  (I will say that Lakers Kings game in the playoffs that one year was definitely FIXED… remember, the one where Kobe cleared out Mike Bibby and knocked him to the floor right in front of the ref, and he looked away?)  Well, now you got a nice gig with the NBA network, and some cool commercials with Burger King.  So, now you can share your opinions with the rest of the sports world, like we really care.  I guess that’s what you get paid to do, but you are dead wrong on this one Mayce.

So Carmelo shouldn’t go to the Bulls because we have a terrible offense?  Exactly the point.  We need offense.  By the way, our #1 superstar has been out for 3 years, and when he was playing, he didn’t have enough help on the offensive end.  Enter Carmelo Anthony.  How did that “terrible offense” do this year?  Well, they weren’t good, but Thibs made some pretty smart moves, including having the offense run through Joakim Noah.  So, you have an all star PG that is returning this year, plus a big man that can pass the ball, and that’s a bad thing for Carmelo???  The whole point is to improve our offense, and that’s what he does.  But hold on Chris, why do we have to worry about what’s good for Carmelo, maybe HE has to worry about fitting in.

So having a coach that wants his team to play hard every night is a BAD thing?  Well, according to Chris Webber it is, and that’s the whole problem with the NBA today.  It’s all about me.  When you have your biggest star talking about playing for the name on the back of his jersey, that’s what we’re teaching our young basketball players.  When you have guys getting rested during an 82 game season, just to get rested, what kind of lesson are we teaching?  We’re corrupting our young players, and chasing away fans of the game.  So you have a team like the Bulls who play hard every night, and that’s looked at as a negative?  Not the way I was brought up Chris.  Not from the Bulls teams I watched growing up.  This is actually the way it’s supposed to be, but I know your lazy ass doesn’t know anything about that Chris.  Maybe Carmelo doesn’t want to play hard… that’s why I want Kevin Love over him.  However, I’m not saying I don’t want Carmelo.  If Melo listens to Thibs as he teaches him to play hard, play team ball, play defense… wow, that could be scary.  Melo, coming to Chicago would be a GOOD thing.

Don’t listen to Chris Webber.  Don’t be like Lebron.  Be your own person.  If it’s NOT all about money like you say it is, then this is where you want to be.  With a healthy Derrick Rose, the best passing big man & hardest working big man in the NBA, and 2 young hungry guns in Jimmy Buckets and Taj, you will complete us.  You can be that missing piece.  This team is battle tested.  This team is hard nosed.  This team is championship caliber.  Do you want to win?  Your personal window for a championship is not that wide open… if you want to add an NBA title to your career, maybe multiple NBA titles, you would WANT to come here.

But… the Bulls can’t control what decision these free agents make.  If I was Melo or Kevin Love or any other FA, I would WANT to come here.  So you have to work hard, and it’s NOT all about you… is that a bad thing?  Well, according to Chris Webber and some NBA superstars today, that’s a problem.  And if that’s the way you think Melo, then WE don’t want YOU.  We’re all about winning here, and we need some help.  If you don’t want to come here, oh well.  Somebody will.  Somebody will be smarter than you.  Somebody will help us win that 7th NBA title to shut up Chris Webber and every other person who thinks like him.  You make the call.

Melo would be a nice fit here, but I think we would have to trade Taj and Jimmy, to make room for more $$$
