March 10, 2017: The Hate Files XXVIII

posted in: Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox | 2

Where were you on April 3rd, 2009?  I was living in Los Angeles when the news broke.  I remember pretty clearly; I was so excited.  The Bears acquired Jay Cutler from the Broncos for Kyle Orton, two 1st round picks, and a 3rd round pick.  Finally.  We finally had the franchise QB that we have never had.  It was a glorious day in Chicago Bears history…

Where were you on March 9th, 2017?  I was in my office back in Chicago, in the middle of a meeting, when I received a text message from my wife:  Bye bye Jay Cutler.  I was so excited.  I checked Twitter to confirm that my wife wasn’t messing with me.  The Bears had released Jay Cutler.  Finally.  Finally, this asshole is gone.  It was a glorious day in Chicago Bears history…

I’ve waited so long to write this.  If you don’t know, one of the first rules of the Hate Files, is not hating a current Chicago player or team.  Thus, the timing of this good old Hate File.  I’ve waited a little more than 6 years to write this…  welcome to your Hate File Jay Cutler.

Yes, maybe I should bring up another date:  January 23rd, 2011.  Maybe you recall where you were for the NFC Championship game between the Bears and Packers.  I was at a bar in downtown Chicago.  I was so excited.  A chance to return to the Super Bowl.  The first ever playoff meeting with our hated rivals.  History was about to take place, and it did.

I’ve never forgotten that day.  You know, forgive but don’t forget…  The fact that Jay Cutler stood on the sidelines in the second half of that game, watching the Packers beat us, infuriates me still to this day:  key words “stood on the sidelines”.  Yes, he wasn’t carted off.  He wasn’t sitting on the bench.  He wasn’t standing with crutches.  He was just standing there… with that stupid ass look on his face, while Caleb Hanie marched out there trying to pull off a miracle.  There Cutler stood… the biggest moment of his career, one of the biggest games in Chicago Bears history, and watched us lose.  Yeah, I’m not a former player, so stick that up your ass, but NFL players even criticized him.  It was all I needed to know about Cutler:  he was not a winner.  He was a bum.

After that, the only way that moment could ever be forgotten, was to win a Super Bowl with the Bears.  We never even saw the playoffs again with him.  Franchise QB my ass.

He’s just a guy.  Maybe that’s part of the problem.  We were so amped up for this franchise QB, you know, perennial all pro (Cutler=0 pro bowls), makes everyone around him better (fat chance), perennial playoff participant (1 playoff win in 8 years), and champion (I don’t want to swear any more).  We found out the hard way, that this guy was just an average QB.  He couldn’t make anybody around him better.  He needed every single thing to be perfect around him to succeed.  We know that wasn’t the case; all the Jay Cutler excuse makers can use that line all they want.  Bottom line, is that a franchise QB doesn’t need everything around him to be perfect.  They make people better.  They find ways to win.

A 500 quarterback in his Bears career proves that:  he was just an Average Jay.  But, somebody didn’t figure that out; that somebody was Phil Emery.  And that somebody, by signing Cutler to a ridiculous contract, hamstrung the Bears to this day.  Finally, we are out from under the coach killer’s grasp.  Finally, I can let all this hate out.  I may need a part 2…

He sucked against Green Bay.  He threw passes to the other team frequently.  He dropped the ball frequently.  He had zero visible leadership skills.  He had a “who gives a shit” attitude as shown to us by all the hilarious Smoking Jay pics.  He had the personality of a wet blanket.  Good riddance is what I say.  Back to my blog from yesterday… when it comes to the next Bears QB, it’s all about ABC:  Anybody But Cutler!

I can’t remember being so happy about any other player leaving the Bears.  Finally, I don’t have to cheer for him because he was playing on my team.  Finally, I can say how I really felt about this putz.  Finally, we can turn the page, and forget about this joke of an era.

I’m ready for anything now.  Now, that he’s gone, I’m re-energized about the Bears.  I know the other moves so far haven’t been awesome, but the one fact remains:  NO MORE CUTLER.  And for that, I am thankful.

So many more things I could say… maybe I’ll throw them in little by little…  or maybe he truly does deserve a double… I’m just happy I don’t have to explain to my son who Jay Cutler is.  I’m just happy now, that I can take him to his first Bears game, and not see that loser under center.  Harsh?  Maybe, but then you don’t really know the essence of a Hate File.  You don’t really know what it’s been like to see this coach killer help keep this franchise in neutral for almost a decade.  If you liked him, you’re an idiot, and I wish you would become a fan of the team he next destroys.  Bye Bye Jay Cutler.  Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.  Beat it buster.  I will forever hate you.  I am one happy Bears fan.  Good night.

Back in 2009, I was happy that the Bears got Cry Baby Cutler and they didn’t pay the much for him. 2 first round and a 3rd round pick maybe a hefty price to pay, but not for a team that STILL does not know how to draft a QB. There not much you can say about the gut-less wonder. He cried he had no WRs…we paid his best friend to join the team, he cried about being sacked to many times…we got better at OL. He cried about the coaching staff…we got his babysitter from Denver. What more can you do for one guy on a team? I know, pay him a bunch of money setting your franchise back 10 years only to release him. I really don’t know who I am mad at more, Jay Butthead or the Bears for sticking with him so long.

The CBC is a prime example of a player who never lived up to his full potential b/c he was too busy crying about what he didn’t have. He used it as a crutch and will still be using it if he gets picked up. You really have to think about WHY a team like Denver would give up a young QB for draft picks and an aging QB. Maybe b/c Cutler wasn’t the guy? He is on the market now and is Denver going out of its way to scoop him up…nope, they would rather stick to the guy they have, whomever it is.

Point is: If its to good to be true…..it probably is

On a side note, his replacement isn’t any better and you paid him way too much. Bears need to outsource their scouting department.

BYE BYE you gut-less wonder….you raped this city of lots of money and cheers… I hope you trip and fall breaking your golden arm while your caught in a precarious position inside a bathroom stall getting slammed by some guy named Bubba!

Pretty sure the cutler trade was thought of as a great one by most at the time, myself included. How could it not be? I mean, we were still going through the qb tilt o whirl…funny how we still are. Cutler making the playoffs 1 time is his tenure is saying enough about his leadership and inability to make guys better. He was always worried about what he didn’t have, or how many offensive
he had to work with, or how hard it was to not throw a pick or fumble. The guy is the ultimate cancer despite all the talk about his arm strength. No matter how talented he was/is, his head and heart could not and will never match his talent. He is not a winner. He is not a leader. Both necessities at the qb position. Thanks for wasting the Bears time and money for all these years. Thanks for the false hope. You might hold a lot of Bears passing records, but you will not be remembered for anything good. You are forgotten already and anyone at qb for the Bears will be better than you. Finally, we will not have to cheer for such a loser any longer. Beat it cutler…good riddance!
