March 14, 2024: Excitement Strikes

It was late Thursday night; I was chilling… watching some college basketball. I got a text from my brother: Keenan Allen to Bears. Excuse me? He said: Legit? I jumped on Twitter. I got duped last time when I thought the Cubs signed Matt Chapman; had to make sure this wasn’t some fake Adam Schefter reporting some bogus news. Nope, it was the real deal. I told my son; he immediately jumped and gave me a high five. Yeah, that’s about the reaction I had too.

For all the lack of moves from the Cubs, the steady journey towards mediocrity with the Bulls, and the waiting game with the Blackhawks, the Bears… they’re making moves. A couple O-lineman, a safety, a RB, a TE, and now, a top notch WR. Yes, heck yes! Of course, the big looming question still remains at the QB position. Although we still have multiple needs, certainly feel a lot better about this roster today than I did a few weeks ago, and this isn’t even talking about the QB, yet. Everyone seems to think they know that Caleb Williams will be a Chicago Bear soon, which is fine by me, but… how many people saw this one coming? Everybody can think what they want, I know I will… but at the end of the day, it’s Poles’ world, and we’re just living in it. Thankfully, it’s a pretty sweet place to be.

Of course, the Bears haven’t won jack yet, but the way the season ended last year, the improvement of the defense, the offseason thus far which doesn’t even include our 2 top 10 picks in the draft… damn, it feels good. It will feel better once we know our direction at QB, but until then… I’m enjoying this. Swift at RB is certainly an upgrade. I didn’t like seeing Monty go; I thought Herbert might have been able to fill his shoes… but he’ll be a much better backup; good there. Picked up Everett at TE to pair with Kmet; like that too. And now, Allen with DJ… whoever will be at the helm of the Bears offense will be in pretty decent shape. Of course, we still need to block for them. Couple nice OL pickups should help.

What’s next for Poles? We’re a little more than a month out from the draft, and the NFL news has been flying fast and furious. It’s funny… the NFL isn’t even IN season, and it’s still talked about non-stop. The NFL is truly the king. It’s nice to hear the Bears in the mix too… like they’re almost relevant again. They’re always relevant to me, but you know what I mean. Could the Bears actually be setup for a decent season?

Every move by Poles hasn’t panned out; every move going forward will not pan out. But… he’s making moves; he’s trying to improve this team, and for that, I’m thankful. Now, back to that decision at QB… Bear Down!
