March 16, 2024: Next QB Up

posted in: Bears | 0

Sitting there watching Beverly Hills Cop with my son… you know, little by little we’re showing him the classics… haha. Wasn’t checking my phone. Movie ended, looked on my phone, and had a few text messages. Justin Fields to the Steelers. Wow.

I’m happy because we finally have a direction at QB. If you’ve followed along, I still had hope for Justin, especially when you throw in the amount of picks/players the Bears could have got for the number one overall pick. With the additions on offense over the past week, certainly felt like whoever the QB of the Bears would be next year, would be in a better position to succeed than in previous years. Could Justin have succeeded on the field next year? I guess we’ll never know.

I liked Justin; I wanted him to be the guy, kind of like the guy before him, and the guy before him, and the guy… You get the picture. I thought Justin had a better chance than many of those previous options. It turns out that at the end of the day, he didn’t do enough to instill confidence in the brass. Based on what we got back for him, sounds like many teams were of the same opinion. He’s going to the Steelers to be a backup QB. With all the teams in the NFL in need of a STARTING QB, and he ends up going to Pittsburgh to be a backup… for a 6th round pick! Doesn’t that tell us everything we need to know? I knew this would be the path of Trubisky when he left Chicago, but Justin? Certainly I think he’ll get another shot to be a starter, unlike Mitch. With Russell Wilson as the starter, looks like the Steelers want to take a chance at Justin AFTER this year. Bring him in, see what they got, and if they like, sign him for their long term QB. Not a bad plan, especially for what they gave up for Justin. You know, the Steelers, the great organization… OK… we’ll see. Good luck to Justin. I hope he gets another chance to be a starter; I hope he does well if/when he gets that opportunity. It will NOT be here.

And that’s OK… The Bears have decided to NOT let another #1 overall pick in the draft go by without taking a QB; Justin had his shot last year, and yes, it wasn’t JUST Justin… but, he didn’t do enough, bottom line. Were we going to give Justin ANOTHER chance? I was fine with it, again, considering the return we’d get for the pick, but the Bears went another direction, and I’m riding… of course. Next QB up… Welcome to Chicago Caleb Williams… right?

Wouldn’t it be wild if the Bears took another QB…. haha. If you thought I was mad when they drafted Trubisky… I may break something if the Bears did that. Again, not a huge fan of Caleb, but per a lot of other experts, he’s the clear cut guy, the future HOFer… God I hope we finally hit on a QB; we’re due… over due… WAY over due. On to the next chapter… Bear Down!!!
