March 21, 2024: Two Types of Bettors

There are two types of bettors in this world: one that you follow and one that you fade. If you haven’t determined which kind I am after the first day of March Madness… thank God for Oakland.

First of all, why was I betting on the Mountain West? Boise State on Wednesday night= Loss. Nevada= Loss; we’ll get back to them later. Colorado St= Loss; 11 points in the first half? OK, so I was on the wrong side for Boise State, whose star player didn’t show up, and Colorado State, who couldn’t put the ball in the hoop, but Nevada!?!? They were only up by like 20 points with 7 minutes left in the game… On that one, all I can really do is tip my cap; got me.

My boys South Carolina, that had won me so much money this year… killed me in their last 2 games, both against Auburn in the SEC tourney and against Oregon in the first round of the tourney. Now Oregon did have 2 guys absolutely go off, but… they’re gone. Drake? My God… again, another “star player” who shied away from the moment; another late blown lead… like 7 points with 5 minutes left, something like that. Texas Tech… that was a bad play; NC State’s mojo is still going strong. Kansas though? Up 20 something… game in the bank… not so quick. They could have/should have lost that game; I wish they would have… bastards.

There was Long Beach State, covering by a half a point like a champ, and… I bet on Arizona in-game for some more goodness in that one. Of course, Oakland… covered the spread AND hit my ML play at +700 to give me a slightly positive day after all was said and done. Brutal losing record, but slight profit? I’ll take it. What about Friday’s games?

I’m a little trigger shy, can’t lie. After seeing loss after loss… but, it is the madness, so we will be firing. I’ve locked in a few plays:

St. Mary’s -5.5– 5 vs 12 worries? How about 6 vs 11 worries? St. Mary’s is a good team, and I guess you can say the same about Grand Canyon, right? Not so sure. St. Mary’s rolls

Charleston +9.5 & ML– Can I hit a ML underdog twice in a row? Alabama, like Kentucky, is in the SEC. Alabama, like Kentucky, doesn’t play defense. If Charleston, like Oakland, can hit some shots… Let’s go!

I’ll be betting more for sure. I’m sure I’ll sprinkle some in-game too. I’ll be on a team first to 10 points too at some point as well. Have to keep looking. It’s like gambling overload. Thursday and Friday is like a degenerate’s dream; I hope it doesn’t turn into too much of a nightmare. Again, thank you Oakland! Good luck to all!
