March 29, 2021: Late Night Decisions

posted in: Bulls | 0

I was hyped up to watch the Bulls play the Warriors late Monday night. After being so excited after the Vucevic trade, and then seeing them flop against the Spurs on Saturday, I was ready for redemption; I’ll have to continue to wait for that. The Warriors beat the Bulls 116-102.

I didn’t see the 2nd half. After being wide awake for the 1st half, I started fading at halftime. I made one of those late night decisions to go to bed vs stay up and maybe see the Bulls come back; it was a good call. I would have been OK with it being a bad call, if the Bulls actually had come back and win, I just couldn’t do it… I’m getting old… damn. But back to that first half where I was zoned in…

The Bulls caught a bad break with the return of Curry for the Warriors; he was hot out of the gates. If only he had missed one more game, the result may have been different. The Warriors have some nice pieces, but without Curry, they ain’t shit. Who’s going to lead them, Draymond Green? What a joke that dude is. Best defensive player of all time? Wow bro… put down that Kool Aid, and better yet, what’s in that Kool Aid? You ain’t even close to that, and you look sorry as hell out there nowadays. Yeah, you hit an extremely lucky shot last night… actually, made 3 three pointers, which is close to a miracle for you… but that’s what the Bulls defense does for guys; you’re welcome. Yeah, Curry is a great player, no doubt, but who cares when we’re playing him? I don’t. F him, and anybody else when the Bulls are facing off against them; this attitude is not shared by the Bulls announcers.

Look, I love Stacey King, but I do think that the pairing with Neil Funk, an old school basketball guy, was good for him; it brought a nice balance to the broadcasting team. The new guy Adam Amin is OK too… but the one problem I have with him is that he gets too excited about the OTHER team. Take for example that around the back alley-oop that Curry tried to throw to his teammate; sure, it was a nice play, other than the fact that he travelled… other than the fact that it didn’t work. But Amin went so far to say it would have been one of the best plays of the year… really dude? It’s not the first time. He’s always praising the other team; I guess he has to… he does national stuff too right? Anyways, I’m all for giving props when they’re due, I’m just not going to have googly eyes for a guy on another team when the Bulls are playing them; sorry, ain’t happening. And then Stacey jumps on too… I don’t like that. Let those other guys be. Give them props, and keep it moving. I don’t want to hear all this gushing over a Bulls opponent. F Curry, and anybody else when they’re playing us.

But more importantly, is the action on the court. Although the Bulls look a lot more promising on the offensive end of the floor with the new additions, the defense looks the same… and that ain’t good. Vucevic looks to be a beast on the offensive side of the ball, but on defense, not so much. Sure, that new guy Thies… I thought it was pronounced TEE-SE vs TICE, but I’ll go with Stacey and the newly minted “Thies Thies baby” call for him; he showed some effort. Unfortunately, the rest of the team didn’t show consistent enough effort on the defensive side of the ball; this is not a new problem. This is a disturbing problem. Yes, anybody can get hot; you tip your cap, you move on. But the effort has to be there; effort is so key on defense. I just don’t see it right now. Fix that Billy. If we want to see the Bulls in the playoffs this year, they need to fix that… ASAP. Things don’t get any easier with a visit to Phoenix on Wednesday night… Still waiting for that first win with Vooch. Go Bulls!
