March 3rd… 3/3… what do you think of?
Scottie Pippen is the easy answer. That guy… when he was on the court back in the day, he turned into an outstanding player. The robin to MJ’s batman, one of the dobermans on defense, leading the Bulls to the ECF the year MJ left. He was legit, with his wide wing span, sharp bank shots, and flying dunks; his defense was elite. Sure, he had some hiccups along the way. I think of Game 7 vs Detroit in 1990, the migraine game. Or how about when he sat himself down after Phil drew up a play for Kukoc at the end of the game? Not his finest hour. He still had some good years after he left the Bulls, to finally “get paid”, but yeah, Scottie… forever Chicago legend. Since his retirement, he’s all over the place. From his waffling MJ goat claims, which by the way, he’s back on the right side now, to straight up ripping him (not his fault his son was “dating” your ex-wife), Scottie is a bit out there. He made a book; don’t know anybody who read it. Just flew down to Australia to talk Bulls dynasty/Last Dance for a hefty price I heard. Not sure we can/should listen to anything that comes out of his mouth, but yeah, can never take away the 6 rings. That will outweigh it all at the end of the day. Good luck Pip.
Kareem… possibly the most famous number 33; some say HE should be the GOAT. He definitely has an argument. Dude won everywhere he went. He has the most recognizable move in NBA history with the hook shot; yes, I’ll even admit it’s more famous than MJ’s fade away OK? He is definitely in that 2nd tier of all time NBA greats; remember, there is only 1 person on that first tier. How about Larry Bird? He resides somewhere up there too. I kind of grew up towards the end of both of their careers, but much respect to both of them. Not sure you can get a better trio of NBA players that wore the same number; I’m sure you can, but maybe that’s for another day. Those three would be a great start to building any NBA franchise, and honestly, all three of them would be doing just fine nowadays in today’s NBA. Don’t even get me started talking about today’s NBA…
It’s exactly a month until my son’s birthday, 3 days after my Dad’s, and 9 days before my wife’s; yeah, lots of birthdays around this time. In fact, today is my father in law’s birthday; he turns 75 too, just like both of my parents. Happy Birthday to him. I always enjoy talking sports with him; we could go back and forth for hours.
I’m almost caught up. It’s been a while since I’ve fallen that far behind, but now, I’m back.. to stay? God willing. Next.
