May 14, 2025: Don’t Let The Door Hit You

posted in: Bulls | 1

These NBA playoffs have been going fast; I didn’t even get to write my “who I do, who I don’t want to win” segment. Have no fear. I know there are only 6 teams left, but we can still swing it. Let’s start out West shall we?

I didn’t have anything against the Grizzlies, but OKC swept their ass right out in the first round. I saw something on Twitter saying Ja Morant should come to the Bulls, and then someone saying, this is the last place he needs to be…haha. The Nuggets Clippers went 7 games; that was fun. I didn’t care who won. And now, the last West semifinal matchup between OKC and Denver heads to a Game 6; again, I wouldn’t be mad at either team advancing, although I’d lean slightly to OKC; Go Caruso! Seeing the Wolves eliminate the Lakers took me to my happy place, and eliminated one of the teams I don’t ever want to see win again, well, two technically… the Lakers and whichever team LeBitch plays for. Bye bye. And on Wednesday night, after beating the Rockets in 7 games, the Warriors were shown the exit by the T-Wolves; don’t let the door hit you… I know they had Jimmy, and who doesn’t like Curry (although he was hurt), but I was happy to see them go too. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Timberwolves win it all, after all, what the heck does Minnesota ever win?

On the Eastern side of things, the Heat, Magic, Bucks, and Pistons were all eliminated first round. Funny thing, I probably like the Pistons best out of that group; I couldn’t imagine saying that 36 years ago… I hated that team, but now, I kind of don’t mind them; they’re a young, up and coming team. Look forward to reigniting that rivalry, but the Bulls need to get better first. The shock of the playoffs was the Pacers knocking out the Cavs. I guess I wasn’t completely shocked they won the series, but just HOW they won it. They kicked the shit out of them in Game 4, and then, Cleveland couldn’t even pick themselves off the court and win at home in Game 5 to extend the series; I lost some dollars on that one… bastards. Another team, now that LeBron is no longer around, that I wouldn’t have mind seen win it all; I wouldn’t mind seeing the Pacers take it either. This leaves one team left that MUST lose: the Boston Celtics. Seeing Tatum go down in Game 5 all but sealed their fate, but… they played like champions in Game 5, sending it back to MSG, where most certainly this series will end. The Knicks are the team I would most want to see win it all, simply because of Thibs. I love Thibs, and although not crazy about their new acquisition KAT, I do like Brunson and Hart. Go figure… me liking the Pistons and Knicks… blasphemy I say, blasphemy! Hey, until the Bulls get their shit together, I’m forced to root for other teams in the playoffs, and, considering the options, I’ve made my choice; I’m fine with it. Actually, the NBA playoffs haven’t been all that bad. The biggest reason for this: all the guys are playing, and trying hard… now if they could only apply that to the 82 game regular season…

This playoff season has been wild! I can’t believe how quickly it’s moving. I’m with you on the Timberwolves—it’d be awesome to see Minnesota finally get a win. The way the Pacers dominated the Cavs was insane, especially Game 4. I’m curious, though—why the strong dislike for the Lakers and LeBron? Is it just personal preference, or is there a deeper reason? Also, do you think OKC has what it takes to go all the way, or are they just a fun underdog story? I’d love to hear your thoughts on how the rest of the playoffs might play out!
