May 2, 2021: Waking Up

Sorry, just waking up from my celebration bender of the Bears picking Justin Fields… haha. No matter what else is going on in Chicago sports right now, and as always, there is plenty going on, and as always, we’ll get to that, the Bears draft pick of Justin Fields has me in a good mood. Oh yeah, there was some other stuff that happened too, outside of the Bears draft, but definitely inside the Bears division.

WTF is going on with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers? As if the Bears drafting a potential franchise QB for the first time in my life isn’t good enough; Jesus, I really am putting a lot of stock in this Fields pick… but again, the bar is so low… he has to be the guy, right? Anyways, add on top of that, the drama in Cheeseland??? Ouch! Yeah, I’m not sleeping/dreaming any more… this is really happening.

So Rodgers wants out of Green Bay? Not sure how true that is, and not sure what if anything will really happen over his bunched up panties, but it’s fun; just sitting back here eating my popcorn. Was thinking that the GB reign of hall of fame QBs was coming to an end a couple years ago, but no… Rodgers is still pretty damn good, and so are the Packers, although not good enough to win another Super Bowl with another HOF QB. Yep, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… the Packers are the most underachieving franchise in football. With back to back HOF QBs, and only 1 Super Bowl each to show for it… well, hey, it’s still more than us, but that’s not the point here. The point is if these guys are so great they should be winning it a lot more; ever hear of Tom Brady? Yeah, he’s probably the exception to the rule, although you can throw in Montana and Bradshaw who’ve each won 4 as well. However, if you take a look at ALL of the NFL’s history, you have to include those NFL championships before the Super Bowl, right? Right, although all you hear about nowadays are Super Bowls, there was football being played before the good old Super Bowl came along, and there were plenty of NFL championships before then, so… really, Bart Starr, not Favre or Rodgers, should stake claim to the greatest Packer QB ever; he won 5 titles! Of course the next guy up is… drum roll please… Chicago Bears QB Sid Luckman! Like Bradshaw and Montana, he has 4 NFL championships to his name. So much for there never being a great Chicago Bears QB… let’s not forget about him.

But back to the wanna be Jeopardy host, drama queen, and soon to be ex-Packer QB? Hahaha… this shit is just hilarious to me, I’m sorry. What would you do as a GM of the franchise? Would you invest everything in offense, or would you try to build up the defense to keep up with your franchise QB, knowing that a true franchise QB makes everybody around him better? Well, the Packers have chosen the latter, and because they haven’t surrounded him with superstars a la Lebum James, Rodgers is whining; it’s not like they haven’t had any other talent on offense… seriously. But yeah, Green Bay chose a path, and thus drafted a defensive player in the first round 9 of the last 10 years… and oh yeah, the 1 year they drafted an offensive player, they drafted Rodgers’ successor… this is great… haha.

Well, let that drama play out whatever way; don’t care. In fact, I’d rather Rodgers stay in Green Bay; beating him and the Packers on the way to the playoffs in 2018 was so, so sweet. Unfortunately, there have been way too little of those instances, and way too many memories the other way. With the addition of Fields, maybe it’s finally time to start evening up things??? We can only hope. Bear Down!
